Just an hour drive from Kelowna in the Monashee Mountains is Big White.
With 118 designated trails and 27 unnamed ones, there are plenty of opportunities to feel the rush of racing down the mountainside. There’s something for everyone here with 18 percent of the trails suitable for beginners, 56 percent for intermediate skiers and 26 percent perfect for experts.
In addition to the slopes, Big White also features TELUS Park, which includes a half pipe, rails, jumps, boxes and border crosses. The resort event has an exclusive snow-cross run identical to one found at the Olympics!
When you need a break from the skiing or snowboarding on the slopes, check out the other fun activities here like snowshoeing, tubing, snowmobiling, skating, dog sledding and taking horse-drawn sleigh rides.

When to Visit Big White
Since Big White is one of Canada’s best ski resorts, the best time to visit is, of course, in the cold weather months when the snow is fresh and ready. Pack your winter gear and get ready to enjoy the chill as you explore the different slopes.

What to Do in Big White
In addition to your time spent enjoying the slopes skiing or snowboarding (see Skiing at Big White video), the area also provides other attractions that you can experience during your down time.
After so much physical activity, you’re bound to be sore. Schedule a visit to the Elevation Village Spa to treat yourself to some much needed relaxation. Soothe tired muscles with a massage or try a facial, body wrap or a manicure/pedicure. You’re sure to leave feeling great and rejuvenated.
In between trying to different ski trails, take a break to check out Elysium Gardens. Covering 1.2 hectares, the perennial gardens and Japanese-inspired gardens are a treat to see. Surrounded by mountain views, you can really take time to stop and smell the roses as well as the herbs and other fragrant flowers here. The gardens are beautiful through all seasons and there’s a picnic area where you can stop for a meal while enjoying the scenery.
For a meal you won’t soon forget, book a dining tour. Climb aboard and old-fashioned horse-drawn sleigh and be whisked away to a cabin in the woods or on of the mountain restaurants. Impressive Clydesdale horses guide the sleigh through the snow as you arrive to a delicious brunch of bacon, eggs and pancakes with real maple syrup.
