About this property

Lakefront chalet, in a pristine setting, with privacy and spacious loft. 5 STAR.

Our lakefront chalet is located on a wooded, 2 acre lakefront lot with plenty of privacy and room for small or larger groups to enjoy. Located in a family oriented, private (not gated) community that is 20 minutes from Elk Mountain Ski Resort, and 20 minutes from the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River. We cater to families and other groups seeking to enjoy relaxation and the outdoors. We've been a lodging partner with Elk Mountain Ski Resort for several years. The quality of skiing at Elk Mountain and the setting and character of our Summit Lake Chalet make for an enjoyable and memorable skiing or snowboarding getaway. If you haven't skied here, I've skied them all and this is the best skiing in Pennsylvania, in terms of skill level variety, shorter lift lines and vertical elevation. Summit Lake (aka Bone Pond from the 1800's to late 1960's) is approximately 55 acres in size and has fewer than 25 cottages on it. Approximately 45% of the shoreline is and will stay undeveloped via an easement held by the Delaware Highlands Conservancy. This makes for a pristine, natural setting for kayaking, canoeing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing. We offer guest the use of 6 kayaks, 2 canoes and a row boat from our private dock. In addition to the regular heat, we provide dry/covered firewood for the wood stove, as well as for the campfire ring during the other 3 seasons.

Hiking and mountain biking: There's a nice mix of dirt roads and a nearby Rails-to-Trails System on the old O&W Railroad. From the Chalet, it's approximately one mile to the trail, just across Rt 370, at its intersection with Spruce Lake Road. From this point, a two mile hike or bike ride takes you to The Lakewood Lodge and Restaurant, which is a Country Inn B&B with a full service restaurant and large outdoor dining pavilion and bike racks. Pocono Heaven
We stayed here President’s Day weekend 2024 and had a wonderful time. Very comfy cozy. Only approximately 25 minutes away from Elk Mountain which was very convenient. Just make sure you bring everything you need as the stores locally may not have what you need.

Great weekend
The chalet is in a lovely quiet setting on a beautiful lake. We enjoyed the beginning of the fall foliage which was stunning. House had everything we needed and it was full of rustic charm.

We can't get enough of this place!
This has been our vacation spot for years and it never disappoints! Beautiful area, quiet and peaceful, dog-friendly, fun on the lake, warm fires in the evening. It has everything we love!

nicer than the pics make it look… kind of
I stayed here with 7 friends. We showed up to the property and actually thought the pictures didn’t do it justice, a lot nicer! We had an amazing stay, and the AC works good during the hot summer months (not as much in the loft). Tip- bring toilet paper, garbage bags, and paper towel. It says provided but there was 1-2 of each. A couple little things we thought that could make this place even better: 1. More seating. it sleeps 10, but there is only seating at the table and couches as well as dock for 5-6. 2. Clean/update carpets. Just so old and dirty. 3. Lighting outside- rope lighting by the fire and down to the dock would look stunning. Really fun trip and really amazing stay.

An outdoor delight
The lakefront chalet was in an incredible location! We lucked out with gorgeous weather to enjoy the outdoors here, which is truly the highlight. Ample kayaks, a canoe, a fishing boat, even some tubes, there’s plenty of options. The fire pit was stocked with logs making it easy to enjoy a nighttime fire and surprisingly we didn’t ever need bug spray (a welcome surprise). The cabin interior is definitely that of a cabin- the carpeting and couches are a little tired and maybe it could use a female’s decorating touch, but there was a nice view of the lake to eat by and essentials were all there. Beds were comfortable. For a house that allows dogs we weren’t expecting perfection inside (animals create wear and tear, we get it)! I’d say it was true to the online photos. We appreciated being able to come and go easily with the check in and check out process. There wasn’t a mile long list on exactly how to do things that many STRs have- it was refreshing to just clean up as we would at our own house and be on our way! Thank you Jim!

I'm a local owner that lives 3 miles from this property. I also own and operate the Lakewood Lodge and Restaurant from that distance. For guests with specific interests, I'm a long time resident and can provide advice on the many activities available in Northeast Pennsylvania.

Why they chose this property

If you're looking to get away and enjoy the natural beauty of the northern Poconos, this is the place. Lakefront, private and spacious. We've restored the outside of the chalet and installed a new full bathroom. Great for groups or couples, we provide the chalet turn key, with all bedding and linens, equipped kitchen and dry firewood provided.

What makes this property unique

Great mountain and lakefront getaway destination, enjoyed by groups of up to 10, or couples looking for a nice place that's a reasonable drive from New York and Philadelphia. From our doorstep, you can hike, mountain bike, fish, relax on the dock, kayak, canoe or use our row boat. We are situated in between the Elk Mountain Ski Resort and the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River. We can help you enjoy all the area has to offer through our affiliations with local guides and outfitters: skiing, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, tubing, rafting, eagle watching.
