About this property

Old Myakka studio. Top location for birding and wildlife viewing!

Starry skies and moss- draped ancient live oaks! Our charming and comfortable studio / suite is fully equipped, sleeps two with a daybed with pop up trundle, twin beds. Kitchenette has microwave, portable oven, burners and countertop cooking appliances.
Wi-Fi, AC, full bathroom, tile shower.

Property is located in an equine community and features 5 1/2 acres, with magical oak hammocks on park and former ranchlands, fenced and gated. A wildlife corridor connects us to Myakka River State Park and deer frequent the property at morning and dusk as do resident Barred owles, Sandhill cranes, Ibis, egrets, bluebirds and Wood storks.

We are located directly across from TerraNova equestrian center,
20 miles from the powder-sugar beaches of Sarasota and 18 miles from downtown restaurants, theatre's and night life.
We are 18 miles from historic downtown Arcadia, and 1.3 miles from the north gate to Myakka River State Park, featuring 18 miles of scenic riding trails, hiking trails, kayaking, canopy walk and board walks.

The Crowley Preserve and Nature Center is 2 1/2 miles to the west and the Celery Fields birding and walking trail is 11 miles west and hosts 200+ species of birds.

This area, with it's protected parks and reserves, is a birder's paradise. Add the endangered crested caracara to your life list. Bald eagles, wood storks, roseate spoonbills and many other species are found here among the more common egrets, herons, vultures, and other charismatic avian!

This quiet, secluded property offers the perfect opportunity for weary travelers to kick back and relax for a few nights or more, with plenty of parking for your vehicle.

The studio is a rustic bunkhouse design, once a beekeeping workshop and art studio, with high ceiling, exposed beams and metal roof.
We accept shorter stays for couples, of six days or less and longer stays for single occupants. We offer it now to birders, travelers and wildlife enthusiasts with a desire to experience historic Old Florida, our abundant wildlife and beautiful native habitats.

Beautiful Area
Just as described in listing. Dissapointed that one of the screens for a window was in the process of being fixed when we asked Gayle. So only small window in bathroom could be opened for fresh air. Door to studio doesn't have a screen either and needs to be closed at all times. Just to give you heads up for future guests the pictures on the listing with the front porch and fire pit are of the owners home. Studio is attached to the stables with the two horses. Which were quiet and no smells just incase you have allergies. Hot plate was perfect for making meals . Loved the larger size fridge since we had groceries for a week. North Entrance to the park was perfect when it was closed during the week. You just have to park and ride into the park and pay a small fee.and place in locked box. Thanks Gayle for being the great host and leaving us some extra water which came in handy. Marsha, Kirk

Country peace
We loved listening to the bird songs and hearing the owl hoot. The sand hill cranes strutting in the nearby fields were a treat.
