About this property

Year-Round Waterfront Cottage

If you have been looking for the perfect place up north for your upcoming vacation, look no further than this spacious and comfortable home centrally located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Relax at home or explore the area...just a short distance from many of our UP treasures including Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Lake Michigan, Tahquamenon Falls and Kitch-iti-Kipi to name a few. This waterfront cottage is custom built and sleeps 8. It has an open floor plan with hardwood floors, a custom staircase, a large living and dining area with a stunning gas fireplace and as a bonus an electric sauna. This area is great for outdoor recreation during all seasons.

This property is located on North Manistique Lake - a beautiful, inland lake - also known locally as Round Lake. Round Lake is a 1700 acre all-sport lake approximately 1mile by 1.3 miles. The cottage is located on the 10 Curves Road and sits 8 miles from the charming lakeside town of Curtis, MI and 16 miles from Newberry, MI.

Our cottage is new construction with a combined kitchen, dining and living room perfect for gathering with family and friends. Guests will love to warm up by the stunning gas fireplace in the evening, use the outdoor shower or relax in our sauna. Outside the sauna is a changing room great for wet gear. With three baths, guests can enjoy their privacy: a guest bath in the entryway on the main level, a second full bath on the main floor next to the sauna and a third full bath on the second level. There are four private bedrooms. The master bedroom on the main floor with a king sized bed. The second level has three bedrooms; one bedroom with a king, one with two full sized beds and the third bedroom with two twins. There is a covered porch off the living and dining area of the main level. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, stove and various small appliances to meet your needs. All linen and paper products will be provided. There is a large parking area for multiple vehicles and trailers as needed.

Winter brings heavy snowfall and great snowmobiling! We are conveniently located in the middle of the Upper Peninsula Snowmobile Trail system. You can easily ride from the cottage to the trail head and get on the trails to Seney, Curtis or Newberry. From these trails you can head to Grand Marais, Paradise, Sault St. Marie, Munising or wherever you would like. Additionally, guests to our area enjoy ice-fishing, cross country skiing, and skating - which is offered at the Erickson Center's outdoor rink in Curtis, MI. Snowmobiling has been really amazing the last few years and riding the trails has never been better! We provide trail maps. For winter fun to Learn more about winter sports and snowmobiling in Curtis, MI at http://www.curtischamber.com/index.php?page=Curtis_Snowmobiling Visit www.tasatrails.com for Newberry, MI snowmobile trail information.

Fall color season is breathtaking in upper Michigan. Enjoy the local area, vibrant hardwoods and do some exploring. Don't miss Tahquamenon Falls. Use the lake house as your base. The entire area is ATV friendly for side by sides and other ATVs. You can ride right from the cottage.

Summer is gorgeous! This is the perfect spot for a relaxing vacation. We often use the cottage on weekends but if you are interested in a Monday to Friday rental we have great rates. We may also be able to be flexible with a Saturday morning checkout. Send me a message to inquire.

Round lake is so clear you can see down 15-20 feet. Great for swimming and boating. Minimal boating traffic makes it an ideal lake to swim, paddle board, kayak, etc. The 100ft of shallow shoreline and sandy bottom creates a kid friendly and safe zone for the entire family to enjoy. The large yard is great for games. There is an outdoor shower connected to the changing room making it easy for everyone to keep water and sand out of the main house. Want to bring a boat? Anchor it out front and launch just down the road at the park.

Whatever the season we are sure you, your family and friends will enjoy this getaway! Thank you for considering our property.

What an amazing place!
This house is just wonderful! We were 7 adults with plenty of room and so peaceful and well supplied. The pros well out-weigh the cons. The house was supplied with plenty of dishes, spices, cleaning supplies, and on and on. Great porch with furniture to just relax and a grill to fix your steaks and burgers on! Everything was great! Cons are a very short list: there is only one bathroom upstairs where all the bedrooms are except one, BUT there are 3 full bathrooms in the house; no mirrors anywhere that us women could fix our hair and makeup to free up bathroom for others. We were there when leaves were starting to change, so it was cool in the evenings. This house would be wonderful for a summer family vacation, with swimming right out the back doors! Bring the boat for fun on this beautiful lake. BTW, not much in the way of grocery stores and even less in the way of restaurants. Thankfully we love to cook...it's healthier! There is a little IGA just down the road that is actually a well-stocked small store. Another thing...the house is a 4-bdrm but has beds for 14 people plus a baby! Plus 2 very comfy sofas in the living room. Also, The dining room is a lot bigger than it looks. Would definitely do this rental again!

U P Family Trip
This was a family trip with our 92 year old mother. First time in the U P. The house was heavenly. Plenty of room. A very well stocked kitchen. The lake is crystal clear and so sandy! I especially enjoyed the sauna!

Great Backdrop for a Guy's Weekend Away
Our intention was to go snowmobiling during the week, so we did a Monday-Friday stay. My friends and I are now in our 50s-60s, so we're not really into riding for miles and miles anymore. We trailered our sleds into town, which was super easy. The driveway was steep and icy, but our 4wd handled it fine (thanks for the sand!), While the snowmobiling was pretty good (one day of bad trails - we missed the snowstorm by a day or two), the best part was this big house with a ton of common area where we could hang out, talk, goof around and generally catch up with friends that we don't get to see often enough. The kitchen was awesome (we missed the grill outside), so we were able to eat most of our meals in and not have to hunt for restaurants. The casino was close enough for a couple of the guys to run up there and try their luck. The house was beautiful, right on the lake, and ridiculously well-stocked, which we appreciated SO MUCH. There were plenty of beds/bedrooms and bathrooms, but the rooms don't feel crowded at all. We were able to have a great week together - we never would have been able to have this kind of experience staying in a hotel, and it was even more economical. This was our second stay at this property and I'm sure we'll do it again. Thanks for an awesome time!

About the host

I'm originally from the UP and I grew up spending my summers on this lake. I bought this property to continue visiting and making new memories each year.

Why they chose this property

In 2016, as our family expanded, we tore down the existing summer home and built a custom a custom cottage with unique amenities to enjoy with family and friends. The area is amazing year round with wonderful winter sports right out your door, amazing fall colors, spring fishing and wonderful summers.

What makes this property unique

My favorite parts of this cottage include all the cedar woodwork we had cut off our nearby property, the custom designed log staircase, the local Amish built cabinetry and vanities including our beer barrel feature wall, the oversized gas fireplace with a cedar log mantel taken from a tree we lost in the backyard and the sauna which is a favorite and necessity for UP winters.
