About this property

Breath-taking Rural Retreat In Western Colorado

God's Country Lodge is just the site for your next family, church, hunting, executive or quilting retreat. Located in the center of the 'western slope' of Colorado, this remote retreat is for guests who want to 'get away from it all.'

This rustic-elegant and spacious vacation lodge on 40 private acres of pinion and juniper trees is situated just outside of Crawford Colorado, with breath-taking views of the West Elk Wilderness Mountain range, the Needle Rock (a 700-ft. volcanic monolith) and Grand Mesa. The entrance to the north rim of the beautiful Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is just 3 miles away.

This 6,000 square foot, two-story lodge features two fully-equipped kitchens, a great room, a recreation room, seven bathrooms, and six bedrooms with a total of eleven beds. Extra features include a huge fireplace, wet bar, two TVs, wireless internet, gas barbecue, a steam room, fire pit, tree fort, pool table, foosball, dart board, table games, puzzles, and books.

The taxidermy mounts (bears, deer, elk, beaver, turkey, etc.) and the unique woods throughout promote a Colorado high-country ambiance. Bible verses remind guests of the Creator. Activities in the nearby vicinity are hiking, hunting, lake and stream fishing, wine-tasting, and horseback riding -- however, God's Country Lodge is so peaceful that you might not want to leave!

Perfect house for large family vacation
I just can’t say enough great things about this home!! The house is absolutely stunning inside and out!! All of the views are just as stunning as the home. The deck is perfect for viewing the sunrise over the mountains. The house is fully stocked with everything that you would need. Plenty of activities for all ages from board games, puzzles to movies and a pool table and sauna and more!! Lots of activities to choose from in the surrounding area, great base camp for your vacation. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We would definitely stay at this home again.

Amazing property
Our stay at God’s Country was amazing and perfect for our big family. It had everything you could think of, plus some! The furnishings were rustic, the views were beautiful, the amenities satisfied all age groups, and the black canyon was beyond beautiful. Would highly recommend.

About the host

Hosted by Nancy Streza

Host profile image
We live on a small farm in a rural community in southern California - but were born and raised in western Colorado. Dick is a lawyer and a pastor - but his favorite role is "papa" to his children and grandchildren. Nancy (aka "Nana") writes children's books and directs children's theatre productions and day camps for her neighbors.

Why they chose this property

God's Country LLC is owned by the Streza and Gonzalez families. We built it as a hunting lodge and "home away from home." Because we can't get there as often as we'd like, we decided to share it with others through VRBO. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

What makes this property unique

God's Country Lodge is in a quiet rural setting with amazing views. It's a place to slow down and connect with the people you love. If your goal is to explore western Colorado (Aspen, Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction, Montrose, Ouray, Telluride and Grand Mesa), it's a centrally-located home base for day trips. The elevation is 7,251. We try to keep the kitchen well-stocked with "extras" (like spices, oils, vinegars, flour, sugar, plastic bags and aluminum foil), because the closest grocery store is 25 minutes away. Guests are encouraged to use what they need - and replace whatever they can. It is important to us that you have a wonderful time at our "home away from home." Please don't hesitate to call with questions or concerns before or during your stay!
