About this property

Private, Quiet -Relax, Read, Recharge In Romantic & Comfy Home, North Valley

Unique NM home, beautiful with two gas kiva fireplaces, nichos, and lots of space to relax in comfort and quiet. Private and quiet, a perfect place to relax in the heart of one of the oldest neighborhoods in the beautiful North Valley of Albuquerque. Conveniently located minutes from I-40 and I-25. Rural feel but in the city and close proximity to Old Town, Downtown, Balloon Fiesta Park. If you're up for exploring the natural beauty of the north valley acequias, walking and biking trails, it's a short jaunt that leads you to the Bosque and the Albuquerque Open Space or the Rio Grande Nature Center where you can enjoy flocks of geese and cranes grazing on their way south or are part of our permanent flocks. Just around the corner one can find restaurants to suit any palate, good old NM food (red or green, chile that is) and fine dining such as Antiquity in Old Town (our favorite!) Additionally there are other great cafes and breweries (Albuquerque is developing a reputation for fine craft brews) featuring live music on a regular basis. Albuquerque is a small town but has big city culture with our museums and art events - theater, music, performance art, something for anyone.

We look forward to sharing our city and our home with you and we hope you enjoy your stay!

Excellent place to stay on vacation
House is spacious, well furnished, clean and has 2 working gas fireplaces for warmth. Host is responsive and helpful. Centrally located so most things are within a 15 min drive.

Could have been better
Driveway was a very tight fit with the van we had. Bathrooms not as clean as i would expect. Very dark as some lights did not work. Dishwasher was falling out of the cabinet. Manager did not call back. We were charged for extra guests but there were o ly 4 of us as we originally stated. I would not recommend this rental.

A Nice Peaceful Hideaway in Town
I really enjoyed my stay! The property was quiet and peaceful as stated and very comfortable. I felt safe as a single woman, which is very important to me. The host, Valerie, was very responsive and I appreciate that. The property was also very clean. The only thing i would suggest bringing is some mosquito repellant if you like to be outside as you are by some water in the canals. I would definitely stay again!

About the host

Hosted by Valerie Borrego

Host profile image
Valerie and Tomás are native New Mexicans, Valerie is from a small northern town called Santa Cruz which was an early Spanish settlement. Tomás is a native of Albuquerque. Valerie owns a small CPA practice but is an artist at heart and Tomás is an elementary school teacher, farmer, beekeeper, wine maker and avid reader. We have two beautiful daughters, college graduates trying to find their way in the world.

Why they chose this property

Having lived (next door) in the north valley for over 20 years, we know the area and the beauty of the north valley and how conveniently located it is to both I-25 & I-40, major interstates through Albuquerque. In addition we have close access to walking and bike trails, and are less than 10 minutes from the Balloon Park, Old Town, UNM area & Nob Hill, or Uptown.

What makes this property unique

We are next door, so we can provide anything that you lack. In addition, you can wander through our orchard and pick fruit (summer and fall) or come by and sample some homemade wine (mead actually made with honey from our bees), or just enjoy the rural experience and quiet of the north valley!
