About Ruth Sechena

John and Ruth Sechena live in Seattle, WA. John was born in Great Falls, MT and his heart is still there. We come home to Montana for 2 or 4 weeks a year; it keeps us sane.

Ruth Sechena purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Ruth Sechena chose Cascade

We know the Dearborn.

Born & raised in Montana, John and his 2 brothers have floated and fished the Dearborn since the early 70's. One brother bought 33 acres and Grandma brought 28 acres (for the grandkids) just one river bend up from our log cabin & made it possible for all of our kids to swim, fish, hike and bike there. The oldest has just entered college & we are sure he will keep coming back.

Over all these years John has always wanted to buy the property upon which our cabin stands because of its inherent beauty and its incredible swimming & fishing holes. When it came up for sale last year we knew we would never get another chance.

What makes this cabin unique

You don't have to leave the property to have a great time. Get up, catch breakfast, take a swim in some really beautiful swimming holes.

Hike or bike the property. Put your boat/floation device in right from the property and float to the Missouri River or put in at Hwy 287 (up river) and enjoy an incredibly scenic all day float..

BBQ dinner on the spacious deck with friends & family; watch local wildlife cross the meadow in front of you on their way to the river; hear all of natures sounds because it's quiet.

Rustic and Relaxing

Two Feathers Lodge is amazing. The porch is a perfect spot to enjoy the view and the company you keep. My grown sons and I fished the Mo each day and looked forward to coming back to this gorgeous Lodge.

5 Star Accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is to die for! Everything was first class....all the way. Furniture, appliances, bedding, towels, you name it. Very special place! We were 5 fishermen and the seclusion was very welcome after a day on the Missouri River. We fished the Dearborn also, and then sauntered up to the beautiful deck, and cooked dinner outside on a very nice and clean gas grill. One of the guys even threw an air mattress out on the deck, and slept under the stars. Beautiful Montana nights! We also saw lots of wildlife, and especially enjoyed watching the deer and her fawns who were around morning and evening. They even provided two very nice pairs of binoculars. Wonderful spot, and I can see why it's so popular with families also. Great swimming hole out front, and lots of inflatables available for use. It's "off the grid", but all the batteries (solar), wind mill, and generators worked great. You'd never know that there wasn't an electric service coming through the wall. The road in requires a four wheel drive vehicle, but that's the beauty of "getting away from it all"! The owners are very nice and easy to work with. I'd go back!

Spectacular Cabin; Perfect Montana Scenery

  • 5 of 5

This place is absolutely wonderful. I went in with high expectations, and my expectations were were exceeded. The cabin is well maintained, and the owners could not be more friendly. We enjoyed walking the property and fires down by the river. If you are looking to disconnect and relax, this is the place for you. I'll be back.

Doesn't get better..

  • 5 of 5

It was great to unplug from the real world at this cabin. No TV, Internet or cell phone service, unless you go on top of the mountain.. Cabin is beautiful and cozy. Had amazing time with family, kids had a blast. Was great to see how kids have not even mentioned that they miss TV or computer games while at this cabin. They always had something to do, fish, swim, tube, play darts, board games, hike.. Taught my kids how to catch crawfish..The best thing was jumping in to the river of the big rocks, that brought back some great childhood memories..

It was amazing to wake up in the morning in to such a great view, nature and landscape there is amazing and peaceful.

Fishing was great, we caught about 7-8 Rainbow trout, one of them was about 25".

Thank you Ruth for letting us stay at your cabin, it was most amazing time..

Perfect Cabin in a Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing 4 nt. stay. The cabin is exceptional and well thought out, from it's location on the property to the shaded wrap around deck with expansive views of the river below. We were treated to a wildlife show(deer with fawns, a small black bear foraging for berries and swimming in the river...) every morning and night. It's the perfect place to unwind - didn't see another person until we left the property. Our kids(6 and9) especially enjoyed tubing the river, catching crayfish, and swimming. The road is unmaintained so a good AWD or 4x4 is a must to get there. Can't wait for our return trip!
