WELCOME ABOARD – Villa Kendara prides itself on treating our guests to a Five Star experience. You will find hundreds of reviews online highlighting our spectacular setting, abundance of amenities, immaculate housekeeping and premier hosting. There are no crowds at VK, just privacy and the beauty of nature. For guests wanting to unwind and escape, VK is a haven. Follow our suggestions on what to bring, go grocery shopping once or twice and retreat to pool, sea and tropical living. For guests wanting to mingle and explore, VK is a perfect base, convenient to everything Provo has to offer during the day, yet peaceful and serene at night.

THE LOCALE – Nestled on a quiet cul de sac overlooking the Caribbean and Long Bay with the best panoramic view on Provo, VK is only 2 minutes off the main road and 5 minutes from the finest supermarket, topnotch restaurants and fun activities. Our ideal location at the upper end of Long Bay is just around the corner from the Grace Bay Beaches. At VK, you may swim out front, snorkel the coves and mangroves, relax at the pool by day, watch stunning sunrises in the morning and sunsets in the evening. The pool is steps away from the guesthouse, and the water’s edge is a minute from the pool down a short natural path to our sandbox oasis where you enter the sea. The more adventurous may fish the shallows, rent kite boards, kayaks or paddle boards, eat at the Tiki Bar Floating Restaurant, one mile out, or visit La Familia de Panama Shipwreck, three miles out.

THE ACCOMODATION - Viva la Providenciales from our second story, 1 BR, environmentally friendly guesthouse adjacent to Long Bay Beach. Designed by the owners as a home away from home rental, VK takes full advantage of the location (every room has a great view) and offers island living in affordable luxury for a couple or couple with children. As you enter our enclosed property through the automatic gate, the beauty of the natural landscape will catch your eye. Park in front of the Welcome Sign, and take a moment to observe the Courtyard with patio for BBQ and Deck Box filled with snorkeling gear and beach accessories, the coral stone walkway that wraps around the property and brings you to the deck and 20’ x 4-1/2’ pool overlooking the sea, ample outdoor seating and pergola for shade. Now it’s time to take the private, tropical lined walkway to the guesthouse. Before entering, pause to observe the view from the outdoor seating and dining area on the balcony. Inside you’ll be greeted by an open plan living space, lots of natural sunlight, porcelain flooring, cathedral ceiling and island décor throughout.

THE LAYOUT – THE EAT-IN GOURMET KITCHEN is fully equipped with high-end stainless steel appliances, many small appliances, central island, Staron countertops, solid maple cabinets filled with more supplies than comparable rentals and a washer/dryer combo with ironing board, iron and detergent. The LIVING ROOM has a daybed and chairs with ample seating for 4 or bed space for an extra adult or younger child, a large screen TV and workspace. THE BEDROOM has a queen size bed, custom-made shell lamps and a large multi-drawer bureau. The ENSUITE BATHROOM is replete with bubble glass shower, vanity filled with sundries, and large mirror storage closet. THE LOFT has 2 twin beds and is suitable for 1 or 2 children, old enough to climb the ladder, or teens. There are AC and Fans throughout, an Alarm System, Games to Play, and best of all, the Exclusive "Johnson Guide to Provo" and “Study Guide to North and Middle Caicos with their companion "Travel Guides" for the car. Everything you need to know about VK, Provo and the outer cays is at your fingertips!

ENVIRONMENT FIRST – TCI’s motto is “Beautiful By Nature.” Our air is pure and our water pristine. At VK, our goal is to preserve the “Nature” wherever possible. The entire property is landscaped by nature, supplemented with indigenous plants. We irrigate with rainwater and grey water; our drinking water is seawater distilled by osmosis, no chemicals added; our saltwater pool generates its own chlorine from the sun. In addition, there are fans in every room to keep AC to a minimum and make it more efficient when required. All fixtures have LED light bulbs. Furnishings are made of natural or recycled materials. Garbage is separated and recycled at the Environmental Management Station. Finally, we conserve water and energy as much as possible and ask our guests to do the same.

THE MYTH BEYOND - You want to visit Providenciales because it's consistently rated a top vacation destination with the best beach in the world. If you're thinking the only thing to do is sit on the beach and take in the sun, then you're in for a very big surprise. Of course, you may go to a different beach every day, each one more beautiful than the next; however, you may also choose from a wide variety of activities on land, sea and in the air.
ON THE SEA - Imagine paddle boarding through the mangroves; kite boarding on Long Bay where the conditions are near perfect year-round; kayaking in small inlets around tiny cays; diving off the coral reefs and walls; snorkeling right in front of our property. Fishermen take note that the shallows off Provo are teeming with bonefish, and deep sea, bottom and bone fishing are phenomenal. Those interested in renting small motor boats and sailboats can chart their own course. If water sports are not your cup of tea, sit back, relax and put yourself in the capable hands of a tour boat captain who will take you to secluded beaches and places of interest.
ON LAND - Not into water sports or touring by boat, land lovers may enjoy horseback riding, working out or playing tennis, golfing at the championship Royal Turks and Caicos Golf Club or gaming at the Casablanca Casino. Not into any of the above, then walk on the beach, bike on the secondary roads, rent a motor scooter, or pamper yourself with spa treatments.
IN THE AIR - Maybe you'd rather see Provo from above; then parasailing is for you. It's from there that you really come to appreciate the color of the water and the patterns of the reefs.

ISLAND PARTNERS - We have five island partners, Grace Bay Car Rentals, Big Blue Collective, SUP Provo, Sea Jay Cruises and Ayer Spa. Each offers our guests a 10% discount or special pricing and is tops in their field. We recommend Big Blue for diving and excursions to the outer islands, such as exploring West Caicos, bicycling on North Caicos and spelunking on Middle Caicos. We recommend both for snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding, depending on your interests. Big Blue is more sports oriented, while SUP Provo offers a more educational approach. Each has an excellent kiteboarding program. For total relaxation and rejuvenation, Ayur Spa offers their spa treatments, massages and wellness packages at Villa Kendara by the pool. Visit our partners' websites for more detail.

DINING OUT - Provo is a treasure trove of Good Value to Upscale Restaurants. Choose from American, Caribbean, French, Fusion, Indian, Italian, Mediterranean, Jamaican, Japanese, Mexican, Tex-Mex and Thai cuisines. The dress is always casual. Reservations are required at some of the more popular restaurants. A few of them close during September to mid-October. Most have indoor/outdoor seating in inviting settings. Eat and watch the sunset overlooking Grace Bay; marvel at the color of the water and the tiny picturesque islands of Chalk Sound; mingle with the locals at out of the way hangouts, watch boats in the Marinas; sit under the stars amidst a canopy of palm trees; admire the tropical foliage in uniquely landscaped gardens; pause for a bite at a beachfront café that is an extension of the beach itself. There is something for everyone, and the quality is first rate.

FOOD SPECIALITIES - Wherever you dine, be sure to sample the local seafood such as conch, grouper, langouste, snapper, and wahoo. Provo is best known for conch that lives in pink pearl shells and inhabits the shallow areas of Long Bay and Grace Bay. Try fritters, lightly breaded and fried to perfection; fingers or cracked pieces with just the right amount of crunch; ceviche with its tangy flavor; the sauté with herbs over a fresh garden salad; chowder that varies from bisque to chunky; a burger savory with spices.

WHY RENT A VEHICLE - To explore the 37.5 square miles and appreciate what Provo has to offer, you must rent a car. Keep in mind that taxis and excursions that provide transportation are expensive so a car pays for itself in no time. Also, you pick up the car at the airport and drop it off there, which is most convenient. An economy car is sufficient unless you plan on driving in the hinterlands.

THE BEST CHOICE - Provo is only 3-1/2 hours from New York and 1-1/2 hours from Miami. For privacy, security, best view, natural beauty, direct access to the water, abundance of amenities and supplies, convenience to stores, restaurants and activities, island partner discounted and the "Johnson Guide to Provo," Villa Kendara offers luxury at an affordable price with everything you need to make your vacation enjoyable.

The best hosts with the best view! Can’t wait to return.
Carol and Tom have been amazing from the very start. We felt so welcomed before we even arrived, and by the end of the trip, it felt like we were leaving family. My boyfriend and I could not have asked for better hosts, along with the most breathtaking view to top it all off. Carol is so very detail-oriented and there isn’t one thing she hasn’t thought of! We had plenty of privacy and also very much enjoyed our conversations with Carol and Tom throughout the week. We appreciated everything so much and cannot wait to return back to Provo and Villa Kendara!

Spectacular Setting
Stay was in a 1br guesthouse over the garage of a high-perched villa overlooking the sea and Long Bay. Great fit for a couple and the guesthouse had everything we needed for a relaxing stay in sunny Provo!

A Perfect Villa Getaway
Villa Kendara has everything and more. So much to do right from the shore or around the corner on Long Bay. The “Book” has all the info you need to shop, eat out or explore the island. Beautiful beaches for sunrises to sunsets! Or just enjoy the pool and the Caribbean blue views! TCI will not disappoint!!

Had to Return!
This was our second time at Villa Kendara. The last time was 10 years ago! We loved it as much this time as we did the first time. The location is wonderful with beautiful views sitting by the pool and easy access to all the beaches. Carol's guides make the vacation and we used so many of her recommendations for restaurants and activities. Villa Kendara is a perfect size for a couple.

Best view on Provo and perfect vacation spot
This was the most amazing stay. The owners have taken a lot of time to prepare guidebooks and recommendations on just about anything one could think of. We used many of these suggestions while planning out our days and were thoroughly impressed with everything. We cooked many of our meals at the guesthouse and it had everything one would need - even a salad spinner! The guesthouse comes equipped with anything you may need - beach chairs, snorkeling gear. It was a quiet oasis with a welcome breeze much of the time. The pool is right over the ocean with a view most would envy in Provo. It is not on a beach, but you are able to enter the ocean and snorkel or walk to the Tiki bar. There are two chairs right down near the ocean and we spent every single morning with coffee watching the sunrise there. You are also able to see the sunset at Villa Kendara - it is THAT good! The guesthouse and grounds are very clean and everything is well organized. We had no troubles at all and would highly recommend this as a most perfect place to stay. We loved every single second of our time on Provo and can honestly say that the owners and all they have done to be helpful certainly allowed us to make the most of our week! Thank you!

About the host

Tom and I are from Weston, CT. Tom grew up in Media, PA and Carol in Rensselaer, N.Y. Tom graduated from NC State University in Raleigh, NC with a degree in food science, while Carol obtained a degree in bio-chem from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. We met while developing food products at Pepperidge Farm in Norwalk, CT.

Restless with corporate life, we began our own business in 1983, and Lexington Gardens of Newtown, Inc. soon became a destination for plant lovers who begged for more. We responded by expanding into gourmet food, gifts, boutique clothing, pet supplies, and home décor.

We have always been curious about people, places, and things. When our children Kendra and Dara were born, we found that renting a place in the Caribbean made for an enjoyable vacation and that spending a day or two with a real estate agent was an easy way to get oriented. After exploring many islands, Stacie, a scuba diving friend, told us about Turks and Caicos. On the spur of the moment, we made reservations and found ourselves on Providenciales in August 1999. After doing our usual look-see with an agent, we were inspired to go out on our own. One day we drove to the end of an unpaved road, parked and walked up the gentle slope to look at the view. What we saw was breathtaking! Smitten by Stubbs Cove on Long Bay, we began the process of buying a piece of paradise. By May 2000 the land on both sides of the cul de sac overlooking the Caribbean and Long Bay was ours.

Using our flair for landscaping and home décor, we designed the house and guesthouse from the ground up and painstakingly oversaw the construction from 2005 - 2008. The open floor plan with contemporary design and Mediterranean accents takes full advantage of the sea breeze and magnificent view. In 2012 we finished off the
guesthouse with the same attention to detail as the house and began renting the second story apartment to guests.

Why they chose this property

Picture standing at the top of a gentle slope about 25 ft above sea level with the Caribbean in front as far as you can see, the 3-1/2 mile stretch of Long Bay Beach to your right, and North and Middle Caicos to your left. The water is many shades of turquoise and waist deep for miles; the breeze is constant and cooling to the delight of kite boarders in view; the vegetation is low and windswept like perfectly sculpted bonsai; the sky is heavenly blue with white billowy clouds on the horizon. Linger awhile and you will see incredible sunrises, spectacular sunsets, and 180-degree rainbows.

Imagine yourself in a serene setting with swimming and snorkeling at your doorstep, yet minutes to town. While the majority of properties on Long Bay are 10 to 15 minutes off Leeward Highway, our property is on the upper end of Long Bay, within walking distance of Leeward Highway. We are also just around the corner from Grace Bay where Leeward Highway, which parallels Long Bay, meets Governors Road, which
parallels Grace Bay. That means we are 15 minutes from the airport and 1 to 3 miles from access points to other beaches, activities, restaurants, and shopping.

What makes this property unique

Unique benefits include the view which many say is simply the best on Provo; the 'Beautiful by Nature' setting which is the theme of the Turks and Caicos Islands; the privacy yet close proximity to necessities and everything that makes a vacation enjoyable; the ease of swimming and snorkeling in front of the property.

Unique also is the Exclusive 'Johnson Guide to Provo'. As visitors from 1999 until our house was completed, we rented guesthouses in various parts of the island. We would arrive to be met by someone in a hurry or to find a key with a short note under the doormat. We vowed that if we ever became landlords, we would do a better job.
In the 'Guide' you will find instructions on how to operate everything in the guesthouse; dining information on owner selected restaurants worthy of your consideration; a list of 'Good Value Restaurants' where the food and service are top notch, but the prices are more reasonable; a multitude of activities to enjoy on land and sea; store locations and the merchandise they sell; directions to the best beach access points; names and locations of the roundabouts and which ones take you to the most scenic areas; where to find necessities such as ATM, gas, groceries, and medical; how to make arrangements for an excursion to North and Middle Caicos and what to do when you get there. Everything you need to know is at your fingertips!

Unique too is the personal attention afforded our guests. The majority of rental properties are managed by property managers, who are in charge of many rentals. We do all of the work ourselves from booking to greeting to maintenance. When we are not in residence, the greeting and maintenance are handled by our good friends, Becky and Bryant.

We invite you to share in the uniqueness that is Villa Kendara!
