Glamping- Beachfront Family Cabin- Qamea Island- off Taveuni

For the memories of a lifetime discover Maqai Eco Resort, an outer island paradise packed full of adventure and relaxation. It’s the perfect island vacation for couples, families and solo travellers who want to escape from it all.

Located on Qamea Island just east of Taveuni the resort lies on five acres nestled amongst a backdrop of tropical rainforest and swaying coconuts palms, fringed with a stunning white sandy bay with pristine blue waters.

Here you’ll experience a family-like atmosphere where the Maqai Team will welcome you like a long lost friend. Be sure to partake in a traditional kava ceremony while listening to guitars, singing and lots of laughter.

Catering for up to 25 guests each beachfront bure is located just steps to the ocean. Known as glamping (glam camping) these eco style beach cabins include the little comforts from home - lighting, wooden shutters, comfortable beds dressed with quality bed linen, en-suite bathroom and a private veranda to sit and watch the amazing vistas.

Committed to sustainable tourism the resort is 90% run on solar power. Take a tour around the vegetable garden and assist in handpicking what you will be dining on for the day. Other eco initiatives include all food wastes are composted onsite for the garden or taken back to the village to feed the pigs, a recycling area and recycle receptacles in each guest room. Rain water is stored for washing and all linen is air dried.

The location of Maqai Eco Resort sets it apart from other properties: guests simply cannot stay closer to a world-class surf break affectionately know as Maqai. The resort has a local resident surf guide who works with guests of all surfing abilities. As part of the surf programme, equipment can be hired and boat transfers to the surf run daily.

It’s not just surfers who will enjoy staying at Maqai Eco Resort, Qamea Island and surrounding Taveuni is well known as a world class snorkeling, fishing and diving spot. You’ll discover an abundance of marine life right on your doorstep. Fishing, dive tours, snorkel safaris and sight seeing day trips can be arranged

Wonderful!
Truly paradise. The staff are as friendly and accommodating as can be. Stunnning setting, so quiet and beautiful, with lots of bird life, fish, and coral.

I absolutely adore Fiji and particularly the off the beaten track destinations. We live in Raglan New Zealand on the coast with our 2 teenage children. My husband Shaw and the kids are avid surfers and this was part of the appeal of starting a resort on a remote island. We are passionate about sustainability and have created an eco resort that is run in partnership with the neighbouring village of Naivivi.
