Sunflower cottage is in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges, within walking distance of the beautiful village of Olinda, a main tourist attraction along with its neighbouring village Sassafrass.
The cottage is a completely separate house more than 50 metres from the main residence in the 5 acre grounds with its own driveway, undercover parking and beautiful private fenced garden. It is perfect for guests with mobility challenges looking for accommodation with no steps.
Just a few hundred metres away from the entrance to the National Rhododendrum Gardens and walking/mountain bike trails in the National forest, the property was formerly known as the Georgian Guest House, where the gentry, politicians of the day and the well heeled used to holiday in the summer months to escape from the heat. The original guest house burnt down in the 1960's however most of the 100 year old garden remains, as does the cottage, formerly the stables for the horses.
Totally renovated for todays discerning guests, with heating in all rooms, electric blankets on all beds, a new kitchen, a double shower, large flat screen TV and an open fireplace for the cooler evenings (all wood supplied, fireplace set up and ready to be lit when you arrive), this cottage is open plan, with insulated walls and ceilings. There is a separate laundry room inclusive of a tumble dryer, washing machine and ironing equipment.
Guests have the choice of one queen size bed in one room, or one single and king single with its own TV in the additional room. Open expanses of windows at the front across the entire cottage allow for views of its private perennial garden and the visiting king parrots, rosellas and kookaburras which are in abundance.
Please note, this venue is not available for parties, events, weddings or wedding photography without prior approval.
A small welcome back is available when you arrive.
