The Boatman’s Cabin at Clayton Bay offers unique, self-contained accommodation for up to five people.
The small, peaceful town of Clayton Bay is situated on the banks of the Murray River, one hour’s drive from Adelaide, and 12 km up-river from the historic river port town of Goolwa.
Nestled on the shores of a picturesque bay, surrounded by shady trees and abundant birdlife, the Boatman's Cabin is situated within the Clayton Bay Riverside Holiday Park, a small family-owned business and tranquil tourist destination.
Situated only 30m from the water's edge, the Boatman's Cabin is a step well above the typical caravan park cabin. This luxury cabin is light-filled and spacious, featuring stunning water views from both the open plan living area and private outdoor deck.
Bedroom one has a double bed and bedroom two has a double bed with a single bunk above. Quality linen, bedding, towels and cozy blankets are provided.
The large, well equipped kitchen has everything you will need for meal preparation and entertaining and comes complete with dishwasher and full size oven. Complimentary tea and plunger coffee is provided. A large outdoor BBQ and modern camp kitchen is located within the park, and available for use.
The open plan lounge/ dining comes complete with large TV/DVD and stereo. The reverse cycle air conditioner offers year round comfort.
Adjacent to the living area the modern bathroom features a shower, toilet, vanity with large mirror and hairdryer.
The surrounding holiday park is an ideal location for water based activities. The river and surrounding sheltered bays offer exceptional kayaking, canoeing, sailing, water-skiing and wakeboarding, or simply swimming or fishing.
Nature lovers will appreciate the abundant birdlife, stunning sunsets and waterside walking trails. In the cooler months you can sit outside and enjoy the warmth of your own private fire. Fire pits are available for hire during fire season for a small fee. Firewood is available to purchase, however guests are welcome to BYO firewood.

In addition to the cabin the park offers a range of powered and unpowered sites, many with ample shade and green grass. All caravan/camp sites are situated either directly on the riverfront or a mere stone's throw from the water's edge.
The Boatman's Cabin in Clayton Bay is the perfect escape from the rat race, offering peace and tranquility rarely found within such close proximity to the large city of Adelaide. However, for those wanting to get out and about their is plenty of things to see and do within the region.
For those who like to explore farther afield, the Boatman's Cabin is the perfect base to explore the town of Clayton Bay and the picturesque surrounding eastern Fleurieu region, which has much to offer.
The small township of Clayton Bay features a licensed restaurant/café 'Sails Café at Clayton Bay' which serves modern Australian meals and offers an extensive take away menu. Opening hours are seasonal and subject to change. Typically, Sails Café is open for lunch 5 days per week, and dinner Friday and Saturday evenings.
Situated on the riverfront and a short 400m walk from your accommodation, the town's public recreational area features a boat ramp, undercover BBQ/picnic area, safe, sandy swimming zone, playground and large, grassy oval.
A 10 minute drive from your accommodation is the lakeside town of Milang. Featuring a general store, bakery and the historic Pier Hotel, which serves decent pub meals for lunch and dinner 7 days. The recreation area has a playground, pier and safe swimming in the lake.
For those who wish to venture a little further, within a 25 minute drive you will reach Strathalbyn, Goolwa and Langhorne Creek.
Surrounded by rolling hills and farmland, the charming historic town of Strathalbyn is best known for its antique and second hand shops, quality cafes and restaurants and pleasant country pubs. A large supermarket and range of retail shops sell quality products and produce from across the region.
One of Australia's oldest and most significant wine regions, Langhorne Creek is regarded as one of the best kept secrets in Australian viticulture. The region's seven cellar doors feature excellent food and wine in a relaxed, rural atmosphere. The bridge hotel in the centre of town offers some of the best pub fare you'll find in the region.
The once historic river port of Goolwa is now a vibrant town featuring modern cafes, historic hotels and a busy shopping precinct. It also offers historic attractions, galleries and a fabulous nature-based playground, together with the stunning natural beauty of the Murray River, and the white sand and crashing waves of Goolwa Beach.
