A wonderful holiday
We have stayed in many places in France but none have been as nice as this. A beautiful property full of charm, wonderful gardens and a fantastic pool (the best pool ever). The grounds are well kept, secluded and with plenty of activities for all. We enjoyed many an evening playing table tennis, boules, having a BBQ or swimming. The village is adorable and a lovely walk with nice bars by the river. The Monday eve village music and food night must not be missed, it was one of the highlights of our stay. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and there is lots to do including racing at Pompadour, kayaking in the Dordogne, lake swimming at any of the many beach lakes, or simply enjoying one of the three restaurants in Segur. Mark and Maggie are great hosts and helped us whenever we needed. We would love to return.
What a fantastic review, thanks very much for that and we so enjoyed your stay with us at Le Grangeau also. When we see guests really enjoying themselves, it makes all our efforts that much more worthwhile. Yes, please do come and stay with us again.
A lovely stay
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Le Grangeau. Mark and Maggie are perfect hosts and gave us a lovely welcome. The girls loved the pool and playing with the dogs. The area is beautiful and we made the most of it on a couple of cloudy days. thanks again Mark and Maggie x
Thanks guys, it was lovely to have you all here, delighted you enjoyed your stay with us....we would love you to come and holiday at Le Grangeau again.
Beautiful setting,great facilities.
The house was perfect, close to lots of walks and Segur let Chateau. The pool was immaculate and formed the focus of our stay. Days out were easy and mark and Marguerite were very helpful pointing us in the right direction.
A great holiday😍
Hi Lynne, many thanks for the kind review. It does make our day to know that our guests had such an enjoyable time. We really enjoyed meeting you all and look forward to another visit.
The Perfect Spot
Situated off a quiet rural lane, yet near enough to stroll down in safety to the picturesque local village with its single shop and THREE restaurant/cafes - where one can dine at almost any time for a knockout price in the most attractive riverside setting - just has to tick all of our boxes!
The farmhouse is very creaky and wonky inside, but was very clean, and gardens were well looked after and so pleasant that we were happy to remain there, only driving out to Hautefort on one overcast morning and to St Yrieix for some shopping.
Hosts Mark & Maggie were tickled to see four OAPs cavorting around the table tennis table or rolling boules up and down the lawn, or perhaps hear the mirth from the table in the shade of the orchard . Mark & Maggie do seem to enjoy helping their guests to get the most from their holiday, while keeping a low profile.
Hoping to return,
Alan, Molly, Roy and Anne.
Many thanks for your review. We would gladly welcome you all again to stay at Le Grangeau. Yes the gite is over 250yrs old, not as "creaky and wonky" as it could have been, as it has been extensively modernised with new wall linings, windows, doors, electrics etc, but still very comfortable and still retaining it's original charm.
This was our third consecutive stay, we love the house and secluded garden and pool.
Another warm welcome from Mark and Maggie, we celebrated our friends birthday in style.
A real chance to relax with plenty of opportunities to explore Corezze aswell. Make sure you go down to the village on Monday evening in the summer for the local producers market. We had a lovely meal in the Galants bar one evening.
The house is spacious and comfortable, the children love the pool, garden and the pretty walk into the village: highly recommended.

Splendid family retreat!
Just returned from a wonderful week at Le Grangeau with family ranging from kids to grandparents, which this accommodation is perfect for. Nanny and Pop stayed in the ground floor double bedroom with shower room close by and we took over the top floor with ample space for all and own shower room.
During our stay the weather was fantastic and we did not need to venture into the vast dining room as the BBQ was in use every night apart from our visits to the Village were diner at La Part des Anges is a must! (Ask Mark to book it for you).
Normally the TV is turned off during family holidays, but being the height of the Rio Olympics it was a real treat to be able to access British TV via satellite and enjoy the highlights. Also a useful touch was seeing British plugs as well as European! The Kitchen was well equipped with everything you need and anything else Mark and Maggie were there to supply.
Outside was amazing and a big hit with everyone. We could have spent the whole week within the grounds as they are well maintained and Mark cleans the pool every morning. The kids were spoilt with choice ranging from the pool, badminton, ping pong, football, pool volleyball and many more games. The whole area is tranquil, disrupted only by the screaming kids and giggling adults having fun; everything a holiday should be.
There was plenty of sightseeing and activities ranging from Waterfalls at Gimel Les Cascades; Les Jardins de Colette with a magnificent maze that kept everyone occupied for at least an hour; Monday evening farmers market/BBQ with live band where we were lucky enough to have visited when they had fireworks; canoeing on the Dordogne and at Le Brantome and the nearby Lidos.
Many thanks Sue and Richard, we are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay so much. Maggie tries to make the gite as comfortable as possible and we like our guests to enjoy all the grounds. Would love to welcome you all back here again.
