About this property

Tidal Whispers - Foreshore Beach House

You wake up to hear the gentle lapping of waves… it feels like it’s only metres away from your pillow. You grab your coffee and take a few steps, through the garden and onto the sand. The warmth of the sun on your skin, the feel of the soft white sand on your feet, and the smell of the crisp sea air makes you feel alive… THIS is what a holiday should be!

At Tidal Whispers, this is your every day.

Beachfront accommodation doesn’t get much closer to the beach than this. And when it comes to spectacular beaches, Boat Harbour Beach is simply one of the best. Here you’ll find crystal clear blue waters, pure white sand and stunning blue skies that stretch to the horizon.

The Tidal Whispers beach house is a traditional Boat Harbour Beach 'shack' and still has many features of its original 1940's design. We have endeavoured to provide an authentic experience for our guests, balancing the preservation of this ambient cottage and its quaint features with a renovation that ensures comfort and style.

If you are looking for an authentic, quirky, and absolute beach frontage traditional Tasmanian shack, embracing its 1940's heritage and character, then this is the accommodation for you.

Perfect for couples, families and friends, Tidal Whispers at Boat Harbour Beach, really is one of Tasmania’s best kept secrets!

Our bedding configuration: Two bedrooms - one large room with a Queen sized bed (ocean views and sliding door access to the sundeck); one small second bedroom with 2 single beds in a bunk configuration.

* 2 storey beach house with internal stairs (bedrooms, kitchen, and living area upstairs; toilet, bathroom, and laundry downstairs)

* No off-street parking but close-by and convenient on-street parking bays

* Sorry, pets are not permitted at this accommodation

***Heritage Considerations***
This beach house is a traditional Boat Harbour Beach shack and still has many features of its original 1940's design. Here you will enjoy spectacular 180 degree panoramic views of the beach and ocean, the warmth and charm of seaside cottage ambience, and unique and quaint quirks. Due to its heritage the ceiling height in the ground level of this beach house, where the bathroom and laundry are accessed, is quite low (e.g., as low as 5”6 or approximately 170cm in some parts) and guests will need to take care when passing through these areas.

***Access Considerations***
This property is accessed from Port Road via approximately 25 steps with a supportive handrail. Likewise, access from the property to the beach is via approximately 8 steps with a handrail, and access from the upper level (containing kitchen, living area, and bedrooms) to the lower level (containing toilet, bathroom and laundry) is via a set of approximately 14 internal stairs.

Based on these heritage and access considerations, please consider whether this accommodation is suitable for you, particularly if you or your guests have mobility issues. This property is not wheelchair accessible.

Tidal Whispers has been accredited by the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program - a federally endorsed, quality assurance scheme. This means that we can proudly display Australia's national symbol of tourism quality, the T-QUAL Tick.

Fantastic location, wonderful beach house
We loved this beautifully restored beach house, full of character and such a great location. The living area has uninterupted views across the entire beach. It was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay again.

Beware of hidden fees
Amazing location with all the basic essentials. Unfortunately I was sent additional payment requests before and after our stay that were unreasonable. Apparently their cleaners found sand on the floors and in the beds (?) that took 2.5hrs additional cleaning time. I was also questioned about having extra guests staying, which wasn’t the case at all. I followed all the house rules, and left the place tidy. As a host myself I wouldn’t dream of speaking to my guests the way I was spoken to. Such a shame, as we would have stayed there regularly, as it’s the perfect spot for a mum and daughter getaway.

Great .. but !
Wonderful position .. toilet/bathroom downstairs.. not so good for older peeps requiring bathroom in night . !!!! King bed would be better !!!! Also no milk in fridge ..local cafe / shop closes 4 .. 15 minute trip to Wynyard to get food . Milk should be complimentary in these circumstances !!!

Hello from Lesley and Georgia, Boat Harbour Beach, Tasmania. We are delighted to share our beach house (or 'shack' as locals call it) with you and hope you will love it as much as we have over the past 60+ years.
Our family purchased this gorgeous place in the 1950's and our family's children and their children have enjoyed it ever since.
In 2011 we decided to open our home to guests so they too could enjoy this magical place. Since this time we have welcomed guests from all over the world and get so much enjoyment out of watching them fall in love with Boat Harbour Beach like we have.

Why they chose this property

Our lovely little shack was built in the 1940's, shortly after World War II. The man who built it was named Harry Lay and he worked as a piano importer in Wynyard. Due to building materials being limited by post-war difficulties, Harry decided to build part of the shack from the wooden shipping containers that his pianos arrived in from interstate. What resulted was a lovely little cottage, affectionately named 'Tinkledell' (the original wooden sign has been preserved on our front gate).
We adore this place for so many reasons, mostly it's character, unbeatable location (literally a few steps from the property onto the silky white sand) and incredible 180 degree panoramic views.

What makes this property unique

There are many properties listed in the Boat Harbour Beach area now, however only a handful can boast absolutely beach front like ours.
You will discover this as you step onto the deck and realise that at high tide you can throw a pebble into the ocean, or step down off the lower deck, onto the lawn and then onto the sand. There is no better location than Tidal Whispers.
Guests will also enjoy the ambience of this original Boat Harbour Beach 'shack', renovated to ensure your comfort yet still maintaining it's quaint character with a homely and warm touch.
