About Pete and Bev

Three families - friends for many years - had all long wanted a ski chalet of our own. When we saw this site about to be developed in Les Menuires we knew this was the right opportunity for us. We ski several weeks a year and never tire of this amazing area that just keeps on getting better.

Pete and Bev purchased this chalet in 2002

Why Pete and Bev chose Levassaix

As keen skiers ourselves for 30 years we knew what we wanted from a ski chalet. Buying before construction started meant we were able to influence the internal layout. The result is excellent, spacious accomodation for guests and all the facilities necessary to provide our guests with tasty and nutritious meals. Uninterrupted views down the Belleville valley, yet with the new chairlift from the easy Bettex piste just outside the chalet getting to the main village now takes only 5 minutes rather than 15

What makes this chalet unique

Excellent value for money for a luxury catered chalet in The Three Valleys.

Comfortable and peaceful yet superbly located for rapid access to this world renowned ski area. As this is a catered chalet you can totally relax: breakfast, afternoon snack and a delicious evening meal (including wine) is all included in the price. All linen and towels are included and so is the local tourist tax. As all the shopping, cooking or cleaning is done for you, all you have to do is enjoy this beautiful mountain location and the outstanding ski area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Bien cordialement.

Great value and location chalet

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this property several times and find it a really good place to stay. For a catered ski in/out chalet in the three valleys at this price level it is hard to better. Clean, well maintained and as described on the web. The owners are readily contactable.

Chalet Bouquetin is on the edge of the newer (more attractive) developement in Les Menuires below the centre of town with decent views across the valley. The new bypass runs 50m below it, but we do not find that noisy or intrusive as it is well below the chalet level. The accommodation has lots of space in the lounge area with plenty of large comfy sofas and a (self help) fireplace. Most rooms are ensuite. The ski room is a little tight, but adequate, and free internet access is an essential bonus for me. The ski run from the chalet is down quite a steep slope, but it IS only 5m away! This piste is the small Betex (green) run which is at the very bottom of Les Menuires, you then take an old (slowish) chair and can then ski across (blue) and take a fast chair (the Tortollet) up to just above Les Menuires centre where ski school starts. This takes about 10-15 min. Alternatively you can miss out the first lift by walking up the Betex about 100m and skiing down to the second lift to above the centre. Absolute beginners might need to walk a little further and take the small basket lift to the centre, but by day 2 or 3 they should be able to manage the runs slowly!

Food does vary a bit year to year as it can obviously depend greatly on the chalet staff which (obviously) changes each year. I have seen comments from other guests that the food is too 'fancy' but others say that it is not 'haute cuisine' enough! Personally we have found it good, if not spectacular, and on the whole it is improving each year.

Les Menuires is not the most attractive of the 3 valleys and perhaps doesn't have the high class nightlife of some of the bigger centres, but the local 'Yeti' bar is lively, and there are plenty of other restaurants and bars. The main centre is a 10-15 min walk away, though some new restaurants are opening around the recent developements that includes Chalet Bouquetin. Prices tend to be as reasonable as you can expect for the 3 valleys. Les Menuires is, however, brilliantly located for ski touring or skiing to all the other 3 Valley centres easily, and as it is reasonably high we have always found enough snow and always skied in and out - I'm not into walking!

Owner's Response: This year we are enhancing our catering package to include a four course evening meal and improved wines. We also plan to upgrade to a nice large flat screen TV. Whether your party is large or small we will always aim to provide you with a comfortable stay in this outstanding ski area!

Lovely well appointed chalet

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay. It was set up by great communications from Bev, which made choosing the chalet and organising our trip very easy. We arrived late but everything was simple and straightforward. There was food left for us in case we were hungry. Frank and Kimberley, our chalet managers looked after us very well. The food was very good. Even with breakfast we had a different option every day. The evening meals were spot on for time. There were many food highlights but I personally thought the duck was the best. My friends and daughter had other first favourites. There were plenty to choose from. The rooms were all excellent, with more than sufficient space, and for us ensuites. The lounge area easily accommodated our group, and was comfortable, enhanced by the log burner which we were encouraged to use each night. There's a simple walk down to the piste, and the reverse walk back takes only a couple of minutes. I loved the fact that everything was included, no little extras to irritate. However understandable they might have been, I was happy that there weren't any. We would happily return to the Chalet Bouquetin.

Fantastic chalet in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 14, 7 adults and 7 children (kids aged from 7 to 14)- the chalet was just the right size for our group. We loved thie chalet's excellent location and fantastic views. The food from Rob and Rachel the hosts was delicious. The piste is less than 10 metres from the door of the ski boot room and the new Bettex lift made accessing the vast Trois Vallees system even easier. Organising the trip was easy via the chalet owners who were very helpful. Would definitely go again.

A Perfect Chalet for all the Family

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful family Christmas holiday in Chalet Le Bouquetin. There were 7 of us which enabled us to have plenty of room to relax and be thoroughly spoilt by Rach and Rob who were the best chalet hosts ever! The food was simply fantastic. Freshly baked cakes, canapes, followed by 4 courses each day! The breakfast was also amazing and so nice to have it all cleared away for us! The snow was in very short supply but the bus system and the snow canons enabled us to ski each day. Winter sun was a bonus! The chalet was well equipped but to get the full five stars we'd recommend more comfortable bedding - other than that, it was perfect!

Absolutely fantastic holiday!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time skiing and we absolutely loved Les Menuires. The chalet, was great. A beautiful location, close to the town just a short (free) bus ride away. The chalet was very comfortable, home from home. Plenty of hot water for all the baths we needed after our busy mornings learning to ski. What made our holiday was the fantastic chalet hosts we had Aisling and Declan. They were so friendly and accomodating, the food was wonderful and plenty of wine with our evening meals. Our favourite time of the day was a pre-dinner drink with canape although having a cake made every day after a day skiing was pretty impressive too.

Would definitely recommend the chalet, hosts and location - we LOVED it!!!

Les Menuires (Bettex piste)
Car: not necessary

The Hameau des Marmottes is a traditional Chalet-style village on the south side of Les Menuires, enjoying uninterrupted and impressive views of La Masse and the Belleville Valley. Easily accessible by car, the chalet is located in an excellent position standing just a few metres from the easy Bettex piste, and from December 2015 a new chair lift at the bottom of this piste will take you all the way to Les Menuires itself in only 5 minutes. Alternatively a three or four minutes walk gets you onto another piste from where lifts take you either straight to the village or to the large La Masse ski area. From the village, access to the rest of the Three Valleys is quick and easy, and on La Masse the lifts go all the way to 2800m. Several bars are within easy walking distance of the chalet and these are also easily reached on skis for a visit on the way home after your day's activities.

Within ten minutes walk is a free lift that takes skiers and pedestrians directly to and from the centre of the village and this operates until late at night.

There is free parking within 30 metres of the steps to the chalet.

Golf: During the summer, golf is available at Meribel and at Ugine. Both courses are around an hour away by car.

The Three Valleys is the premier French winter sport destination.

Over 600km of marked piste and 200 lifts, suitable for everyone from absolute beginner to the keenest powder hound.

Modern lift system with new gondolas and covered chairs.

Easy access to the high and uncrowded slopes is now quicker than ever.

Les Menuires is in the Belleville valley which also contains Val Thorens (one of Europe's highest resorts) and St Martin and has HALF of all the Three Valley's marked piste.

Les Menuires - rapid access to Val Thorens, St Martin and Meribel, offers excellent value for money for the whole three valleys experience without the crowds of Meribel or the expense of Courchevel.
