Great cottage but come prepared!

  • 5 of 5

Maria's cottage is very well equipped and decorated. We stayed for two nights in January and were expecting to be a bit off the beaten track, which the cottage is (don't let the drive down the narrow road put you off). The cottage is very comfortable, and there is an amazing walk to take just down the hill to the coast...we went at sunrise, and it was one of the best experiences during our time in this area! Because we were staying in the area for only two nights, we thought we could buy what we needed in and around Hana, so we did not bring in much food. That was a mistake. While there are several food trucks and outside places to eat on the highway, there are very few restaurants and grocery stores in the area. Because of the location of the house as well as the somewhat challenging driving in the area, we were more comfortable staying in at night. But, without great places to buy food in the area (the two grocery stores in town felt more like gas station convenience stores than where you'd buy food you would actually eat), you are very limited. Ironically, this was the only rental we stayed at during our two week trip to Hawaii that did not supply basics like milk and bread. It was a great rental, just come prepared!

Awesome cottage

  • 5 of 5

We loved the location of this cottage and how it was decorated. Maria has thought of everything a traveler could need while away from home. We love this area of Maui and if you drive down the road from the cottage and walk across the old bridge, you will find an absolutely gorgeous setting by the ocean. I was always going to bring one of the provided beach chairs there and read a book but never did. I will try to do that on the next trip. We stopped at the stands along the Hana Hwy and bought banana bread and a banana syrup which I highly recommend. We would stay at this cottage again.

Quaint, warm, inviting cottage in Hana

  • 5 of 5

We were so lucky to have been able to call this cottage home while staying in Maui. Not only did the cottage have everything you could possibly need, it comes with the most gracious host we've ever had the pleasure to meet. Maria is an outstanding host and greeted us warmly and enthusiastically provided so much great information on things to do in the area and places to eat. We took her advice and everything she suggested was just perfect. Mahalo Maria, we were enchanted by your Aloha spirit.

Lovely cottage with separate screened gazebo with ocean view and beautiful grounds.

  • 5 of 5

Cottage and grounds were very clean and looked recently painted and upgraded. Maria, the friendly and informative host was there to greet us and provided very helpful information about the area. Our AM walk down a paved road to a gorgeous ocean overlook on a lava point near a waterfall was a highlight of our visit to the Hana area— pristine, with several jungle pools, lush vegetation and flowers. Highly recommend this stay!

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Maria is a great host. Very good communication, very friendly, but also respects your privacy. The cottage is great and a really good value. It's pretty far from any shops or restaurants, so it's not for everyone. But perfect for anyone wanting to get away from the crowds in one of the most scenic parts of Maui. You should book as far in advance as possible, as this cottage is nearly booked solid for 5-6 months in advance... and for good reason.

privacy and turn-key, understated luxury

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I are in our late 50s and stayed for 3 nights in Dec. Maria provided all the details needed for a very peaceful stay. The home was very clean, and provided all of the amenities of a fully-stocked home. Noise, bugs and neighbors were nowhere to be found. One particularly useful item was that her guests are asked to fill out a summary of their activities, and this essentially gives a "greatest hits" of nearby places to eat and visit from a tourist perspective. Maria is very helpful and both she and her cottage were perfect. We would very much like to return, and perhaps borrow back the 2 new boogie boards we left for her future guests!
