About this property

Ocean Front Beach House with private path to the beach and an amazing view

We have made some recent updates to the house. The pictures have all be updated to show the recent changes we have made. We have new carpet throughout the house and new paint in the bedrooms. We hope you enjoy these updates as much as we do.

The house is designed to be family friendly. We have a well stocked kitchen with everything you will need to have meals at home. Newport also has some great restaurants if you want to take a break from cooking on your vacation. There are 2 bedrooms one each floor and two shared bathrooms, one on each floor. The downstairs sitting area has a tv and is a great place to relax and have conversations. The upstairs great room has views of the ocean, a sectional that you will sink in to while you enjoy the big tv. The game table and open space make it a nice place to gather, play games and watch movies.

From June 15 - Labor Day there is a 5 night minimum stay.

This is the last house on a gravel road with a small creek on one side down to the beach. The beach has a small creek pool with a sandy beach bottom - safe for little kids and away from waves. Additionally, there is a fully gated deck with latched gate, which is safe for the young ones.

Enjoy breakfast on the deck while overlooking the endless ocean. Wake to waves, gaze on the deep blue, and if you're lucky, watch a whale or two. Only steps away from surf and fun. Play on Agate Beach in the sand or in its tide pools or head to the Oregon Coast Aquarium or Nye Beach close by. Just what you wanted from a beachfront house for the family!

With two large living rooms there is room for multiple inside activities on a storm watching day. Of course, when the sun is out, just walk down the trail and get your toes sandy! There are 3 bedrooms with queen sized beds and one room with two twin beds. The kitchen is well equipped for entertaining. Please note that the private trail to the beach has a few built-in steps along the dirt path with a rope rail. This trail is not for anyone unstable on their feet or with any physical limitations.

Sorry, no pets allowed.

Holidays have a 3 night minimum: Thanksgiving, (Christmas Dec 20 - Jan 1), Presidents Day, Memorial Day,
June 15th through Labor Day have a minimum 5 night rental period.

Beautiful home with ocean views through the trees
This property was lovely. It was very well equipped and extremely comfortable and just felt like being "at home". We liked the open plan space downstairs, and found the upstairs seating area very comfy for watching TV in the evenings. The deck was a great space for relaxing outside. While we appreciated the existence of the path down to the beach, we did find it a bit rough and likely not very accessible for anyone with balance or mobility challenges. Having said that, we did make it up and down without incident! Overall, the property was lovely and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful get away.

Loved the Beach Cottage
Let me start by saying the host was amazing. We had an issue prior to the trip. The host MaryJo went above and beyond to save our trip. You are booking from someone that takes care of people. As for the VRBO, the beach cottage exceeded our expectations. The set up allowed for 2 families to comfortably stay. The property has a clear path down to the ocean with lots of opportunity to explore and relax right on the ocean without having to jump in the car and drive. Be aware that the path is very clean and has rope hand rails but is a little steep. This seems to be the norm for the Oregon coast. We ended up hiking it multiple times a day. Amenities near by ranged from visiting the Newport aquarium, Oregon state science center, walking the piers to view the sea lions, and visit some restaurants and the rouge brewery. However, we spent most of the time at the beach.

Great House!
House was perfect for our weekend escape! We enjoyed the super big couch & spacious room upstairs for playing cards & Mario Kart. Loved the double sliding glass doors, we could hear the ocean & provided a nice breeze. Thank you for keeping the kitchen stocked & providing above what I expected.

I co-own this house with my brother. We built this house on property that has been owned by our family for close to 100 years. I manage the rentals of our beach home because we want to have a connection with the people that stay here. We hope you will enjoy your time at the beach as much as we do. We also hope you will recognize it is our home and treat it as you would your own.

Why they chose this property

My brother Kirk and I co-own this home together. We built the house in 1993. Our grandparents had a house here where they spent the summers from the time our mother was a baby until the house burned down during the 1940's. My grandparents didn't rebuild a the house and left the property to our Mother. She gave us this beautiful beach front property and her blessing to build a home for our children to enjoy as much as she did as a child.

What makes this property unique

There are very few houses in the Agate Beach area that have their own path to the beach. We do sit up on a hill so the path is a bit steep and not for everyone. We do our best to maintain the path while keeping it hidden from public view. We have a beautiful view of the beach and are somewhat protected from the winds. The two living areas make a great place for the adults to enjoy conversation while the kids can be upstairs with a movie or games.
