Fall Adventures
We didn't actually stay around the property much, but that's because we were with friends that were local. The building was in great shape and nicely decorated. The grounds were pretty with the fall colors and then with the dusting of snow. Normally we take our trailer when we visit this area but we were glad to book this VBRO this time due to the early snow. I would book it again. I would recommend bringing slippers as the tile floor was cold even with my fuzzy soks.

Up to the Country
This property located in the Northeastern corner of Washington state is ultra-quiet, beautiful and serene. Jim and Rori are the best of hosts. Over the past forty years, we have stayed in many, many rural vacation rentals and can say that this wonderful guest house is exactly as represented and will delight you beyond expectations. Warmed by a fine wood stove, surrounded by original art including beautiful hardwood furniture built by Jim, a welcoming bottle of wine, farm-fresh eggs and apples brought to us by Rori, mowed trails throughout the hundreds of acres, and the sweet wonder dog, Graham. Well I could go on...On a scale of one to ten this place scored a solid 100.

Wonderful restorative stay in a beautiful environment
Waxing lyrical a bit here, but this was the best vacation rental experience ever. The accomodations were impeccable, artistic, and well appointed, the hosts were gracious and close enough if you needed them and distant enough if you didn't, and the quiet, big sky, autumn foliage, and general ambience were much needed. Our "tour guide" Graham, the friendly dog who became our companion, was delightful as we roamed the grounds. You won't find anything better than this if you are looking for a healthy retreat. And we had a ton of fun, too. Did I mention sweet farm animals?

Loved our time
We had a peaceful and relaxing 3 days on the farm, enjoyed the very pleasant, personable and accommodating hosts Jim and Rori. Graham (what a dog) was the ultimate companion host, he loves going for walks. Learned a little bit about goats and the sheep. We sat on the West porch and watched the beautiful sunsets, the cows and all the different color of leaves on the trees. Very impressed with Jim’s fine wood working which is evident throughout the house.

Great hosts, wonderful house and setting! Even had our own trail guide for our walks, thank you Graham! It is so peaceful and comfortable, will be staying again! It is secluded in the surrounding mountains!

About the host

Host profile image
I am a retired Chemist-Programmer, now mostly doing professional wood-working and projects around our Ranch with my wife. Rori likes to quilt, reads pretty much a book a day, and has kept goats for over 25 years. Together, we enjoy dancing (swing & country) and travel, especially to Mexico and other Latin American countries. We relocated to Rice Washington after 25 years in Alaska, also having had a small farm up there. I am also an EMT and Firefighter in our local Volunteer Fire Department , doing both fire and EMS calls in our district. Rori is also active in various other Volunteer organizations around our small community. We enjoy meeting new people and cooking for our neighbors.

Why they chose this property

After spending 25 years on a remote farm in Alaska, we were looking for a similiar experience, but with a full 4 seasons. This location has way fulfilled all of our expectations and then some. We enjoy a long, warm spring and fall, mild winters, and real summers. And best of all, things like to GROW here: ornamental trees, fruit trees, flower gardens, vegetable gardens, berries, hayfields, etc. We are also blessed with an abundance of wildlife, right out our windows, commonly including deer, elk, bears, cougars, eagles, and myriads of other birds, both seasonal and regulars.

What makes this property unique

Privacy, but not too remote was also one of our requirements and that has worked well for us here. We are still about 20 miles from Colville (Stevens County Seat), which has most all of the services we require, but still only about 1.5 hours from Spokane with a major airport, endless shopping and world-class medical care.
