About this property

Mas Vilalte, an old mansion house immersed in the woody slopes of Mount Canigo

Vilalte is a small but spacious hamlet situated on the South-facing slopes of the massif of Mount Canigou at an altitude of 920m offering breath-taking views over the surrounding mountains and hills.
It is half a kilometre away from the famous GR10, the Pyrenees track connecting the Mediterranean Sea with the Atlantic Ocean and it takes only three hours to reach Vilalte from Barcelona centre.
Vilalte is situated at the end of a one mile long private drive, 7km away from the small village of Corsavy. Due to its isolated position, no noise but the sounds of nature are to be heard and the most beautiful starry skies can be seen, a gift of the absence of light pollution by night.
Wild boars, Pyrenees vultures, eagles and many other wild life can be seen here in addition to a great diversity of botanical species.
The ancient stone buildings dating back to the 16 hundreds, have been totally renovated and restored to provide a very comfortable stay to guests.

The hamlet consists of a large mansion house and renovated barn, a newly constructed, spacious, 150 m2 large wooden building (for indoor activity) with a grass roof, few other smaller buildings used by the owners.
A Finnish sauna and a steam bath, both suitable for 4 to 6 people, are at the guests disposal for a modest consumption fee.

The property includes several dry wall terraces, where fruits and vegetables are grown organically, a large bio-pool with a natural and biological filtering system (no chemicals) surrounded by large decking areas, lawns and gardens.
All around there are acres and acres of pristine forest offering adventurous trails between enormous granite boulders and ageless oaks.
Also inside the property an ancient stone circle (Cromlech) can be reached within a short walk.
Vilalte's pure drinking water comes from a private deep well, it is mechanically and UV filtered; while a natural spring provides for the watering of the garden.

Cabled internet connection is available in a few central common spaces while, with the intent of minimising electro-magnetic pollution, wifi connection is available on request but for limited periods only.
All lamps are either incandescent bulbs or LED (no mercury) and all cleaning product used are environmentally friendly.

Travertine floors in the terraces and in the kitchens, wooden floors in the bedrooms, colourful tiles from Spain, oak furniture in every room and beautiful water Flowforms in the gardens also contribute to a residential quality of the highest standard.

Mas Vilalte is the ideal venue for quiet group vacations, excursions, and also seminars, courses, workshops and all other activities that would respect and be in harmony with this beautiful and pure environment.

The Mansion is rented as a whole and consists of two floors with independent entrances, but connected on the inside by a large staircase.
There are 2 fully equipped kitchens and a total of 8 bedrooms all of which have an en-suite bathroom, desk and wardrobe, and one very large common room with fireplace.
The bedrooms;
1 single room with single bed,
1single room with double bed,
1 single room with king-size bed (sharing the bathroom with room below),
1 double room with twin single beds ( sharing bathroom with the room above),
2 triple rooms with 3 single beds,
2 triple rooms with one double bed, one single and one sofa bed.

A newly constructed grass-roofed hall entirely wood cladded, inside and out and wooden floor, offers a surface of 150 square metres. It is situated on an elevated position, partly immersed in the forest, but with plenty of light coming through the large windows.
An adjacent wooden hut serves as tea room and a toilet is also nearby.

Located on the lower floor in the Old Barn the big kitchen with adjoining dining room offers catering facilities for up to 30 people.
The kitchen is fully equipped with 3 large fridges, 2 dish-washers, 2 large cookers (one electric and one gas), 3 electric ovens (one of which extra-large) and a larder.
