Creekfront! Private ponds for fishing! Mountain views & trails. Complete privacy

CREEKFRONT! PET-FRIENDLY! Over 1/2 mile creekfront, walking trails, two private ponds for fishing-- 60+ acres of woods, creek & wetland on a managed trout stream. Blackwell Branch Cabin in the beautiful Tusquittee valley...It's all about the creek. And the pond. And the woods. And the mountains beyond. Peace, nature, serenity. Fall asleep to the sounds of the rushing creek right outside the windows. Open the French doors and listen to the creek rushing by right outside. Enjoy morning coffee on the wrap-around deck, watch deer in the meadow and geese in the pond. Relax in the evening on the rocking chair porch. Let the kids run-- they'll love the 2-story playhouse. Fish for a trout dinner just steps outside the back door!

Blackwell Branch Cabin is bordered by two creeks-- it sits right on rushing Tusquittee Creek which can be heard from every room in the cabin and in addition, there is another small creek ("Blackwell Branch") that runs along the western edge of the property. This smaller creek is perfect for younger kids to mess around in and get their feet wet, exploring under rocks for salamanders and frogs. The cabin boasts wide wrap-around decks, a rocking chair front porch and even a two-story playhouse for the kids! A large section of the rear deck is closed off with gates to keep your small children and pets secure. There's a large fire-pit for nighttime campfires right on the banks of the creek. Catch your dinner right from your backyard and cook it on the brand-new gas BBQ grill.

Interior: 3 bedrooms & 2 full baths (1500sf)
Upstairs is the master bedroom loft with queen-size four-poster bed, two closets and one large dresser. The second bedroom upstairs has a single bed with a pull-out trundle, and closet. Between the two bedrooms is a full bath with shower/tub and a large closet to stash away all your things. The third bedroom is downstairs with a queen bed, closet and large dresser with TV. Next to it is the other bathroom which has an old-fashioned claw-foot soaking tub, perfect for unwinding after a day on the trails. (The stacked washer/dryer is in a closet in this bathroom.)

The downstairs living space has an open plan with kitchen open to the dining room and living room. Dining room has a large farm-style table. There is a second smaller table in the dining room area for games & puzzles and setting up your laptop. The living room has a large wrap-around sectional sofa w/recliner that sits right in front of the river-rock hearth and wood-burning stove, and a large HD TV. Kitchen, dining room and living room all open out to the wide, wrap-around decks with the creek right outside. The large rocking chair front porch is a great place to watch for deer as they trek from the pond and up the mountain at the end of the day.

The property: The cabin sits on three wooded acres along Tusquittee Creek, level, with a gravel pull-through drive. Serenity Lane is a dead-end road with only four homes-- the first is Gili's Cove Cottage (our sister property-- see VRBO #659518), next are the wooded lots, then Blackwell Branch Cabin, another wooded lot (1+acres), then our own home and beyond our home at the dead-end is our one and only neighbor. We own all the wooded property between Gili's Cove Cottage and the Cabin, so children (and grown-ups) can feel free to wander among the trees and wildflowers. There is no traffic on our little lane other than ourselves. Parents can feel comfortable allowing their children to run and play around the property, in the woods, along the creek and around the pond without fear of traffic or strangers.

Internet, TV and telephone: Keeping in mind that cellular service here in our little corner of the mountains can be somewhat erratic, we've provided a landline telephone (unlimited long distance in the continental US) and hi-speed internet (Wi-Fi) to help you keep in touch. TV is provided by DirectTV and a Roku streaming device lets you use your Netflix, Hulu and other apps.

Equipment & supplies:
Bedrooms & baths: All sheets and towels are provided, with extras in the linen closet. Bathrooms are supplied with bar soap, liquid hand soap, extra toilet paper and Kleenex, and hairdryer.
Kitchen is fully equipped: microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, blender, hand-mixer, all pots & pans, dishwasher soap and liquid dish soap, hand soap, paper towels.
Living room: Starter supply of wood for wood-burning stove is provided. For the big fire-pit out by the creek, you'll find plenty of dead-fall wood on the property.

Reading library, games & puzzles: You’ll find a large collection of books of all types in the bookcase and nightstands. A supply of jigsaw puzzles and games is also provided.

A Most Memorable Stay!!
This exceeded our expectations! The cabin is such a quaint, comfortable, well-equipped home on the most gorgeous property. Honestly, the pictures are beautiful but don’t do it’s justice. The owners make you feel welcome and even left treats and goodies for our two daughters! Dog treats were left for our pups and we felt they were welcomed in the cabin. We told her which type of dogs we had and she had old towels and linens for us to use to cover their furniture which was so nice to not have to travel with and even had gates to keep our pups downstairs. The property is stunning. The creek was so fun for our girls and dogs. We walked the whole path which they keep mowed AND we saw small planes take off and land on the grass strip just beyond the water. It was truly a dream. We ate out in town but also ate in twice. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed and grill worked great. I was amazed at how well the home and property was maintained. We weren’t running into spider webs or having to brush off furniture outside. It was all ready for us. The girls also loved the playhouse. Simply adorable. We really hope to be back. We rafted the Nantahala with our girls (9,11) and the drive was nice. Super cute towns all around. You won’t regret your stay here. We promise!!

Perfect Getaway
My wife and I recently stayed at Blackwell Branch Cabin for a quick getaway before the school year started. It was just what the doctor ordered! Linda has done a great job of making the place homey and it is well stocked with everything you may need to settle right in. The grocery store is close by and we loved sitting on the back porch with our coffee and listening to the creek gurgle by. I have to give Linda five stars as well because she always available and yet totally unobtrusive. The area itself is beautiful and you should take a walk around the pond and look for the turtle! There’s also a small airfield there and while you think it may be a distraction to the calm and peacefulness we didn’t see or hear one small plane until the last hour before we left. In fact I began watching and hoping I would actually see one land! If your thinking about booking this property I’d say just do it. You won’t be disappointed! Thanks for a great stay Linda!

Beautiful mountain hideaway
Thank you Linda and Jorge for creating such a beautiful and well-equipped place for us to stay! Very cool and relaxing during the summer heat! Enjoyed our time in the creek and fishing in the pond and watching/naming the wildlife. We had never stayed in SW NC mountains and enjoyed getting to know Hayesville and N GA was only minutes away. But I can't say enough about our hosts - they were available for any question and so generous with time and great recommendations. Hope we can come back again sometime and will recommend to others wholeheartedly.

Raised in New Jersey (too crowded). Chicago winters (too cold). Florida summers (too hot!). Clemson University grad (go Tigers!). And all we ever wanted to do was live in the mountains. We finally realized our dream and settled in the one of the friendliest small communities surrounded by nature's beauty which awes us every day. Peace. Nature. Tranquility. We found our serenity.

Why they chose this property

We discovered Hayesville and Clay County after driving west from the crowds and hubbub of the Asheville area. Convenient to three metropolitan airports (Atlanta, Asheville, Chattanooga), Hayesville prides itself as being 'two hours from anywhere'. A largely rural area surrounded by national forest, the town boasts both a single stop-n-go light and a nationally recognized fine-dining restaurant. The area is rich in local folk arts and culture, with the John C. Campbell Folk Art School nearby. Recreation choices abound-- fishing and boating on Lake Chatuge is 10 minutes away. Hiking, waterfalls, golf, antiques galore. Concerts on the square, festivals and vineyards make it hard to choose what to do each day, especially on a summer weekend. The cabin is convenient to town but feels a world away.

What makes this property unique

Turn off the road, drive past the pasture, look across the pond, cross over the creek and you've entered a different world. Blackwell Branch Cabin is the sister property to Gili's Cove Cottage (VRBO#659518). The cabin sits right on the creek-- a rushing, stocked trout stream right outside your windows. The cabin and cottage are next to each other, but not too close-- separated by more than an acre of woods. Perfect for lots of family time together and lots of privacy when you need it. The large farm-style dining table inside and the large picnic table out on the deck are perfect for family meals or a quiet retreat, always with the sounds of the rushing creek just a few feet away. The pond offers a never-ending show of wildlife-- deer, ducks and geese, cranes and our resident Great Blue Heron and golden eagle. Children love to walk by the pasture and watch the mommas watching over their calves as they run and play, with papa bull always casting a wary eye. Take a walk by the pond and creek-- you'll feel like you're in your own private place in the natural world.
