A beautiful house in a peaceful setting
We have just returned from a second stay in this beautiful house. It's a home from home with towels and linens provided. You do need to drive into Sainte Mere Eglise for shops as the nearest village doesn't have any but this is clear in the description of the location. This time, as well as visiting the stunning beaches and ports, we discovered two small towns nearby, Bricquebec and St Sauveur le Vicompte, both with Medieval castles which we somehow missed last time. Other reviewers have said about the weak wifi but I know in rural locations it's a bit hit and miss so I tended to rely on my phone wifi if the signal was weak. Nick got back to me quickly when I had a couple of queries. I highly recommend this gite.

short and splendid trip to Normandy
we stayed one week on this location. Very quite environment and friendly people. The house is really very nice and clean (as on the pictures and sometimes even better). Congratulations also to the housekeeper for their assistance when needed. It is a nice location with a lot of possibilities for sightseeing within reasonable distances. I would recommend this location to everyone who love a nice house, a quite environment, and especially for those who are interested in the second world war (D-day) Walter Blommaert

Christmas in La Vallee
My wife, son (23) and I stayed here over Christmas and had a wonderful time. The cottage had everything to meet our needs and was warm and welcoming on our arrival. The welcoming pack of wine, bread, jam & beers was a real treat due to arriving on a Sunday and with it being Christmas, the owners had also left us a Christmas card and small gift - A very nice touch by Nick & Gill. The cottage was well equipped for cosy nights in with the log fire, English Free-view TV, DVD & WIFI (only available in the living room and slow for my sons liking). There was plenty of English DVD's to choose from and it was funny how many of the DVD's we brought that the owners already had on the shelves. The kitchen is well equipped to prepare meals and my wife cooked us an excellent Christmas dinner. The cottage is ideally placed to explore the WW2 landing beaches and is a short drive to the history of Sainte-Mère-Église and Carentan. Slightly closer is the town of Montebourg (also steeped in WW2 history) and it looked stunning with its Christmas lights and shops all nicely decorated. There was also a lovely decorated patisserie that we visited on a number of occasions after coming out of the local bar-tabac. The pictures in the description of the cottage married up to what we found on our arrival and the decoration was impeccable. It is the little luxuries of shower caps, soaps, shampoo, the arrival pack and Christmas gift that sets this cottage above all the others we have stayed in. Although it is very quiet at Christmas time, the area offered everything we wanted and we all had a wonderful Christmas and felt relaxed from start to finish.

Following numerous stays at these beautiful properties the opportunity recently arose for us to purchase them - so we did just that!

Why they chose this property

This is a quiet and peaceful rural location but with many amenities and interesting places to visit only a short distance away.We are in the WW2 June 6th 1944 Invasion Beaches close to Utah Beach, 4 miles from Ste Mere Eglise, 4 miles from Carentan,
Set in the heart of a conservation area of significant importance we are in the beautiful and stunning Parc Naturel Cotentin et du Bessin
Ste Marie du Mont was the first village in France to be liberated on June 6th 1944. Ste mere Eglise still has the parachutist effigy hanging from the church tower.
Band of Brothers story featured in episodes 2 & in the very heart of where we are located.
Along the coast other invasion beaches such as Point du Hoc Arromanches, with its visible remains of the Mulberry Harbour, are all easy access and well worth a visit.
There is so much to do here, not just the invasion beaches.... Bayeux Tapestry, Mont St Michel, Caen, UNESCO St Vaast la Hougue & the Isle Tatihou, Barfleur where William the Conqueror (set sail from), Briquebec, St Saveur Vicompte & Valognes where castles exist from the 100 years war. We have Roman remains, the 1st stone built castle against the Vikings, Hitlers defences in the Atlantic wallALL Our Prices are INCLUSIVE there are no hidden charges Check in can be arranged to suit your individual needs normally after 3 PM and check out well we can be flexible again but normally before 11 AM please.
Sundays are very quiet so be careful if you have forgotten something very few shops are open, the only shops that are open are a few butchers & bakers

Try to avoid weekend travel in the summer season f possible the ferries are more cost effective weekdays

What makes this property unique

These properties in the beautiful hamlet of Fresville have an interesting history linked closely to the D Day Landings of the 6th June 1944. It is the perfect base to explore the D Day Landing beaches of both the Allied and US forces with the picturesque town of Sainte Mere Eglise a 6km drive away. In Sainte Mere Eglise there is a super market, numerous shops, bars and restaurants along with the American Airborne Museum - all well worth a visit. The properties are also an ideal base for walking and cycling with many cycle routes near by.
