About this property

Sand Villa - New Beachfront Private Pool - Three Sea Facing Ensuite AC Bedrooms

A newly built luxury beach and pool villa that comfortably sleeps 7 adults in 3 large sea facing air conditioned en-suite bedrooms, each with a private balcony. Complemented by a sea facing living area and outside covered dining area with wifi and home comforts throughout. The villa is west-facing and enjoys magnificent sunsets.

The villa has direct access through a private beach gate to an almost deserted 2 km of fine white sand beach. The always warm sea is particularly inviting for swimming in high season (approximately November through to April) although caution should always be exercised.

The beach is shared with local fishermen using traditional catamaran and is also a haven for the small crabs and seasonal sea turtles. In season, the fishermen sell their daily catch from the rocks just down from the villa.

There is a safe 'all year around' coral reef protected sea swimming area 5 minutes from the villa by tuk-tuk.

Each bedroom has mosquito netted teak four poster beds with imported Egyptian cotton linen and towels and luxury mattresses. Two of the bedrooms have super king (183 cm x 198 cm) beds. The third bedroom has three large single beds (91 cm x 198 cm) that can be made up separately or as a super king and a separate single. A cot and other infant equipment can be arranged as necessary.

The villa’s guest kitchen is fully equipped with a contemporary fridge and freezer, hob, oven, microwave, toaster and all other kitchen essentials including tea and coffee making facilities. The kitchen has a Nespresso coffee machine, although as capsules are not available to buy locally, please bring your own.

The villa has a sea facing fully tiled private swimming pool fronted by a large child friendly garden with a basket of toys, buckets and spades available on request. The pool area is supported with a number of sun loungers with lounger cushions, extra large bean bags, pool towels and teak drying racks.

The villa's discrete staff offer a menu for breakfast and dinner at additional reasonable price. Servicing is available on request including essential guest laundry. Other services such as masseuse, babysitter, tour guide etc can be arranged at additional charge.

The villa has local shops nearby to supply essentials such as bottled water. Many 'bread man' vans selling freshly baked bread and delicious savoury and sweet bakery snacks pass by the villa multiple times a day (listen for the tunes).

The villa is located a 5 minute tuk-tuk ride (~USD$1-2 each way) from the town of Ambalangoda. Ambalangoda has a choice of modern supermarkets, pharmacies, markets for fresh fish, vegetables and fruit, bakery, ATMs, wine shops, restaurants and other holiday essentials. Ambalangoda is famous for its fishing port, its antique furniture shops and is renowned as the centre in Sri Lanka for traditional masks.

For those keen to explore further afield, we can easily arrange a private air conditioned car and driver or assist you to take the inexpensive public rail and bus services close to the villa. Lively Hikkaduwa can be reached in less than 15 minutes and the famous Galle fort in less than an hour.

The villa is positioned between Galle Road and the beach with the traffic noise mostly drowned out by the waves breaking on the beach and the air conditioning.

We own an identical villa next door (linked by a lockable gate) for larger groups of up to 14 adults in total. There is a ground floor bedroom in each villa with direct access to the garden and beach that may be suitable for any guest with reduced mobility.

We are a London-based family of 5 who have been holidaying regularly in Sri Lanka for over 10 years.

Why they chose this property

Our priority each visit has been to return to this magnificent white sandy Madampe Beach just outside Ambalangoda to swim in the always warm turquoise blue Indian Ocean, relax in the warmth of the ocean breeze and to enjoy the many delicious local culinary delights such as whole baked fish and prawn curry.

What makes this property unique

Modern villa, wonderful beach, full sized pool and caring staff.
