The Lodge at Lake Coma offers 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms and accommodates 12 to 15 people very comfortably with the option to rent the guest 2 bedroom cottage across the lake sleeping an additional 6 people (See VRBO 668930). 18 beautiful pristine acres teeming in wild life surrounding Lake Coma offers your own private paradise. Chickens, ducks, goats roaming with boating, swimming and fishing on the lake.
The home was designed to take in the full aspect of the very beautiful lake, all rooms except for the 4th bedroom have lake views. The Lodge has a lot of sunlight due to the many windows and also very airy, has a lovely feeling, once you enter you get a very warm and lively feeling to the home.
The Lodge is very open plan with large living room/dinning area.
Master bedroom/ bath on the upper floor overlooking the lake with two decks and a screened in porch for dinning.
The lower floor comprised of 4 more bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The second bedroom has a bathroom ensuite with the remaining 3 bedrooms sharing the 3rd bathroom.
All rooms are cozy well appointed and 3rd bedroom has 2 queens and 2 single beds: this makes a great room for kids sleeping 6. The 5th bedroom is small and has two single beds but is very, very cozy and our youngest loves this room, still works for adults too.

Activities, amenities and points of interest at Lake Coma :
Walking & Running
We have many beautiful trails around the lake and throughout our 20 acres, perfect for a leisurely walk. The Forgotten Trail is an over grown trail tunnel that we discovered by accident some years ago, fun at night in the dark.

Fishing, swimming, boating
Our 3.2 acre lake was originally built for a fishing lodge and is well stocked with some really large fish, you are welcome to fish your heart out and we have a paddle boat and canoe at your disposal too.
Two docks offer a lovely place to relax on the water and also offers easy access for swimmers.

Hot Tub, Fire Pit, Covered Bridge:
We have a 4 person Caldera Hot Tub located next to the home and on the lower floor over looking the lake. The Hot Tub is especially wonderful when the temperature drops in the mountains.
Asheville has a wonderful 4 seasons climate and enjoys many beautiful clear days and starry nights. The Hot Tub has been a favorite by family and friends when the kids swim in the cool lake and then jump in the hot tub.

Fire Pit
We have a large fire pit which has fire wood.
Our cottage guest have enjoyed numerous nights by the fire pit and it is also right on the lake.
A fun evening activity for the family, don't forget the marshmallows, if you do we have some.

Covered Bridge
We have covered bridge with a picnic table over looking the lake, a great spot to just relax or have a picnic.

Chicken Coup
We have chickens. We get fresh eggs depends on the time of the year!
You are welcome to correct from the coop.

Family getaway
We loved the house and the the owner and his wife were outstanding but the winner for the grandkids were the animals, especially the goats. Brett (owner) and his wife included our grandkids on the daily feedings and medicine and they absolutely loved it. The fresh eggs were a bonus! Great location being near Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore and easy drives to Black Mountain and Hendersonville. Plenty of room for our twelve.

Excellent Family Retreat
Really enjoyed this very unique property situated on a peaceful lake. We had 3 families with kids and there was so much to do (hiking, fishing, paddle boating, even feeding a variety of animals). Located centrally enough to easily get to a variety of locations around Asheville. We did a lot of cooking and kitchen was stocked and had a huge table for all of us to gather around. The owner is very nice and receptive to concerns; he even set up a Christmas tree for us as we were here over the holiday. Only minor complaint is house is a little dated downstairs with the heat only partially working which keeps it pretty chilly.

Perfect Family Retreat
The hosts at this property were the best. So responsive and helpful with anything we needed. They even went so far as to buy and install a baby gate for us upon our arrival! I highly recommend them! Thank you for making our family Thanksgiving great!

Wonderful family vacation retreat
Perfect house for our family of 12. We loved swimming in the lake and hanging out on the dock. Just 20 minutes from downtown Asheville. The house isn’t modern fancy but was super comfortable and clean. It has a great open living area with a well equipped kitchen for large groups. We loved the screened porch. Full disclosure - the house is on the direct flight path for the Asheville airport. Occasional planes taking off or landing low overhead - But did not impact our enjoyment. The hosts live nearby and were very responsive.

The annual family get together
We had our annual family get together here, we are from Kentucky, Virgina, and North Carolina. The home was great, the dining area was large enough for everyone, which was a welcome surprise. The home was clean and very well equipped with household items. The deck are was a great place to hang out in the evenings. The location was great close to Ashville, Cherokee, Maggie Valley and Lake Lure/Chimney Rock. The lake on the property was another great surprise, from the two paddle boats and two canoes. The kids and adults both enjoyed swimming and fishing the lake. The owners are onsite and were very welcoming and nice people. Bret and Rumi, thank you for your hospitality!!

Rumi Komastu with her husband and four children moved from St Maarten, Caribbean to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. Asheville has been their home for four years.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this property the moment we saw the lake. A truly magical property in a beautiful setting and exceptional location. Comprising of 20 acres with its own private lake, the Lodge is very warm and comfortable, with the Lake as a beautiful backdrop. On arriving you feel the nature and its beautiful setting in the heart of Blue Ridge Mountains. You are under 10 minutes from Asheville's attractions, activities & shopping. In 4 minutes you can be at the stores, cinema, restaurant. The property is excellently located for those vacationers who wish to be near Asheville's main tourist attractions and amenities. The property is tucked into a forest overlooking beautiful Lake Coma with the Blue Ridge Mountains.

What makes this property unique

The property is exceptional because it is so close to everything but with the feel you are in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains in a very serene and pristine setting on 18 acres and the lake.

Activities, amenities and points of interest at Lake Coma

Walking, running, biking
You can spend endless hours enjoy Lake Coma at its wonderful 18 acres. There are trails for walking, running or biking. A Forgotten Trail is a completely overgrown trail tunnel that we accidently discover a few years ago.

Fishing, swimming, boating
The 3.2 acre was original built for a fishing lodge and has some extremely large fish. You are welcome to fish and there is a paddle boat and canoe at your disposal for enjoyment on the lake. two docks provide a lovely place to share a moment and easy swimming access into the lake.

Relaxing and entertaining
Hot Tub, Fire Pit and Covered Bridge
Our 4 person Caldera Hot Tub is wonderful especially then the temperature drops in the mountains, Asheville enjoys many beautiful days and lovely clear starry nights. For the children swimming in the lake (it can be cool) and then jumping in the hot tub is a absolute favorite.
The large fire pit across the lake is extremely popular and is stocked with logs. A great family activity at the end of the day.
The Covered Bridge has a picnic table and is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy any time of the day.

Chicken Coup
We have chickens & you are most welcome to help yourselves to the fresh eggs!
