Casas Estrella y Grande are two beautiful homes in the Historic District of Santa Fe less than a quarter mile apart. Casa Estrella is a gorgeous historic casita, and our other home is Casa Grande, a dramatic two-story contemporary adobe home in the heart of Santa Fe’s Historic District. This is not a compound.
Please go to the reviews of both homes, Casa Estrella VRBO #272512 and Casa Grande VRBO#844068, and read the 100+ five star reviews and "Guest comments" for each property, and you will understand the care and dedication we take in making each guest's visit the quintessential Santa Fe experience.
Casa Grande and Casa Estrella are only a 350 yard walk from one another and can be rented together, schedules permitting, for larger families and groups. The combination provides six bedrooms, six bathrooms and sleeping for 12 in six king and queen beds.
This wonderful custom designed and built contemporary Pueblo Revival adobe home has soaring 12-14' foot viga ceilings on the main floor with stunning floor to ceiling glass walls with views of the chamisa arroyo garden and the mountains to the north and west.
Casa Grande is decorated with new and antique furnishings, Southwestern and Native American art, antique Japanese and African furnishings with antique Navajo rugs throughout. The main floor is finished with the traditional silky hand-troweled, diamond plaster walls, 10 skylights and wide-plank, hand-scraped antique floors. The exterior of the main house and casita was completely redone with adobe stucco in 2015. The entire property has been exceptionally well maintained.
The main floor consists of the entry with powder room, the Great Room, your huge master suite, and the dining room, each with access to the wrap-around covered balcony that surrounds the rear of the casa. The kitchen is adjacent to the dining room, the breakfast nook, and the office/library. Warm yourself by one of the kiva fireplaces in the living or dining room on chilly Santa Fe nights. Enjoy the gourmet-equipped kitchen, a dining table seating ten which was handcrafted by the original owner/designer and a matching handmade center island table in the kitchen. Counter-tops are granite and slate.
The master bedroom is quite grand by Santa Fe Historic District standards and has 12' ceilings and two walls of windows, and a glass door opening onto the balcony. There is a king bed, a walk-in closet and a second closet for additional space. The en suite bath has an enclosed shower and a Jacuzzi tub with a private WC.
Downstairs are three bedrooms, all with queen beds. Two of the bedrooms share a Jack and Jill shower. Each has a water closet, lavatory and vanity and share the single shower. Each has ample closets and storage in the banco seating. The larger downstairs bedroom has a private entrance which opens onto its own patio. The other has a small, private cactus garden outside its window.
The third downstairs bedroom has a private entrance, a shower/tub and a Pullman style kitchenette with sink, two-burner range and under-counter refrigerator. This room would be perfect for a family traveling with an Au Pair or companion/aide. It performs well as a third guest bedroom.
There are flat panel TVs in LR and bedrooms and free wifi.
All bed and bath linens are new as of April 2016. Each bed has new down and down alternative pillows and Comphy brand luxurious spa linens. The pillows and mattresses are encased in hypoallergenic covers.
The main floor has central air and heat with radiant heating in the floors throughout. Each bedroom on the guest floor has its own thermostat and baseboard heating, and each bedroom has a ceiling fan.
Casa Grande is 3,100 s.f. in size and sits on almost a half acre. There is one available garage space for guests and ample outdoor, off-street parking.
The fully-equipped kitchen is roomy and light-filled with natural wood finishes. The kitchen leads to a ramada-shaded outdoor dining area and our extensive garden areas. There is a full-size washer/dryer in the utility area.
CASA ESTRELLA
Casa Estrella, a lovingly-restored historic adobe surrounded by walled gardens at the end of a private lane in the heart of Santa Fe’s Historic District is even closer to Canyon Road and the Plaza. The gardens are perfect for romantic evenings for two, entertaining outdoors or the solitude a quiet garden can provide. Within the privacy of adobe and coyote walls are three garden areas. The coffee/cocktail garden is shaded by a large plum and a mature Russian olive tree. A cocktail table, seating for four, two zero-gravity lounge chairs and a chimenea with plenty of firewood are provided for our guests’ pleasure. Enjoy meals, cocktails and conversation around the dining table for six in the shade of a ramada in another area of the gardens. The front portal offers day-long shade from our own Piñon pine and refuge during Santa Fe monsoon rains and winter snow showers.
In season, savor fruit from the casita’s apple, apricot, peach and plum trees or make a cobbler. In addition to these fruit trees and the Russian olive, we have a flowering cherry, a dwarf blue spruce, a Scotch Pine, pinon, and numerous aspen trees. These are all large, mature trees. There is a big cottonwood in our neighbor's garden that shades our ramada dining area in the mornings and early afternoons.
The house and gardens are completely private and enclosed by adobe walls and coyote fences. Aspen trees line the drive along the casita’s outer wall. During the season, the gardens and landscaping are lush and are professionally maintained year-round. For your time indoors, the casita is cooled with remote-controlled air conditioners and heated by radiant in-floor and baseboard systems.
We use perfume and dye-free Seventh Generation and Mrs. Meyers cleaning products throughout the house, the mattresses and pillows are encased in hypo-allergenic zipping covers, we use only organic products in our landscaping and engage a organic pest control company for regular, preventive treatments in our house and gardens.
