About the host
Hosted by Valhalla Holiday Home
Our father originally came from Helmsdale and our family spent many holidays there. We grew up with memories of walking along Helmsdale river, climbing hills at the back of the village, exploring the bay at Navidale, picnicking on Loth beach and sunbathing by Loch Brora. Now we all live all over the UK and it has become a base for us as adults to holiday and find community with extended family again.
Why they chose this property
Holidays in the highland fishing village of Helmsdale were an intrinsic part of our childhood. We spent time with our immediate and extended family to maintain an important link in the area and these clan gatherings have continued for over 60 years. Our house, Valhalla, centrally based in Helmsdale has provided the perfect base for everyone to continue to continue to meet, holiday and reconnect. It is big enough to accommodate family get togethers yet still remain cosy and comfortable at the same time.
What makes this property unique
The house is centrally based and a very short walk away from just about everything: the village main street for provisions, pubs, local cafes, the fish and chip shop, the restaurant, the bus stop, the train station, walks along the river, the harbour, the playing fields, the golf course and walks up the hill.
Helmsdale has great views over the North Sea and also up the Strath to enjoy.
