This spacious and well-equipped apartment forms the first floor part of a six bedroom Mediterranean villa. It has two double bedrooms, a large lounge, kitchen and dining area, one bathroom and separate WC. There is a cot available, if required.

There are attractively-tiled and well-furnished terraces along two sides of the villa and another sun terrace, in front of the heated indoor swimming pool. The Pool house benefits from ceiling to floor sliding glass windows allowing the outside in and is heated all year round. Holidaymakers booking the apartment will enjoy exclusive access to the private terrace and Pool house.

UK TV is available and the apartment is well-equipped with everything you should need, including Wi Fi, a surround sound system, lots of DVDs and CDs, air-conditioning in the lounge area (central heating in the Winter) and ample seating. Outside, there are garden tables, chairs and loungers plus a large barbecue.

The villa is in a unique elevated position, overlooking the hamlet of Ginoles les Bains. There are amazing views of the mountains which surround the hamlet. It is a nature lover's paradise and one can regularly see eagles and vultures rising on the thermal drafts from the land below. The night sky above the house is spectacular. You can sit and watch the Milky Way glide across the sky!

The classy town of Quillan is a 15 minute stroll from the house. It has many fine hotels, bars and restaurants and a local market twice a week. There are many individual shops in town and a large well-stocked supermarket on the outskirts. The town has a busy events calendar throughout the year, with lots of outdoor concerts, exhibitions, cycle races and even motor races.

There is a bus and a train station, and the town is well-connected to historic Carcassonne to the North and the Mediterranean resorts to the South East. Limoux, home of "Blanquette de Limoux", the sparkling wine invented by monks and the original "Champagne", is only 29 km away.

Quillan is situated in the heart of Cathar country and is within easy driving distance of many Cathar castles. For followers of the Da Vinci code, Rennes-le-Château, where Bérenger Saunière allegedly discovered treasure, is very close at hand.

For those of an active persuasion, there are kayaking, canoeing and white water rafting activities close by, and in Winter the nearest ski resort is only 35 km away.

Close by, a new swimming lake was created last year and it has a lovely beach around it on which you can sunbathe or enjoy water sports.There is also a café bar where you can sit and soak up the warmth in the shade of a parasol.

This is a well-run, clean and comfortable apartment with an exceptionally well equipped kitchen. There are stunning mountain mountain views from the terrace, where there is plenty of space for eating outside. The apartment is superbly positioned for hill walking and there are well-marked paths within a few minutes from the house. We swam in the pool every day and enjoyed the mountain views from the water. Quillan is an easy stroll and there are good markets a couple of times a week. We loved our holiday here - we’ll definitely be back.

Spectacular!

We visited La Blanquetière during the month of April, and stayed on the first floor apartment of the property. Upon arrival, our attention was immediately drawn to the idyllic location of the property, which was situated slightly above the surrounding properties, allowing for spectacular views of the mountains, and ensuring a wonderfully secluded space.

The first floor apartment had two double bedrooms, one of which had patio doors leading on to a private balcony. The view from the bedroom with the patio doors open in a morning was remarkable, and is something that must be experienced during your stay. Leading on from the bedrooms was a spacious ‘wet room’, with a wonderfully powerful, hot shower, and separate WC.

The open plan kitchen and living room offered a great space to cook and relax in. The kitchen was modern and spacious, and had everything we needed. We decided to utilise the fireplace on one of the colder evenings and had a log fire going!

The first floor balcony area is deceptively large, meandering around the peripheries of the Villa. The views were magnificent, both during the day and at night, offering dramatic views of the mountains and surrounding town. There was a large table and chairs on the balcony, with access to a fire pit and barbeque (which we used most nights!).

We accessed the indoor pool via a staircase that led directly down from the first floor balcony. The pool had glass doors and windows all the way around, which offered enjoyable views whilst swimming! The pool was of a generous size and heated too, meaning we could go for a pleasant swim, day or night. There were also a number of convenient sun loungers on the pool balcony that we used for a little sun bathing during the day.

The Villa itself was a pleasant 15 minute walk to the local town centre of Quillan. There was plenty to do in the town centre, and we went on a number of fascinating and scenic walks, including a visit to the ruins of a spectacular local chateau. During our stay there was a local market taking place, which offered all kinds of local food delicacies, and charming memorabilia. There’s also plenty of restaurants to eat out and have a drink. Sadly we didn’t have enough time to try them all, but the ones we did were very pleasant.

All-in-all we had a great stay, and we’d highly recommend it to anyone. The only slight issue we had was getting the Now TV to work, but that was resolved by reading the handy guide provided by the owners.
