Lunissanti - Holy Week in Castelsardo
The Sassari town of Castelsardo hosts the sacred representation of Holy Week rites every year during the Easter period. The dramatic action is divided into three acts that take place on Monday, Thursday and Good Friday. The Monday ceremony called 'Lu Lunissanti' begins the morning with mass, accompanied by the songs of the Lunissanti choirs prepared especially for the occasion, followed by a procession to the Basilica of Our Lady of Tergu. The pilgrimage is characterized by a climate of silence and by the presence of the apostles bearing the symbols of the martyrdom of Christ. Towards evening the faithful return to Castelsardo where they cross all the streets of the town guided by the light of the torches, until they reach the church of Santa Maria where the procession finally dissolves
