About this property

Stunning uninterrupted moorland views over lake and Rough Tor

Mabel's Cottage offers a delightful rural retreat located on the edge of the moors and yet is only a few miles from the beautiful North Cornish coastline. The well known Port Isaac, Tintagel and Boscastle are all close by, along with the beautiful beach at Trebarwith Strand, and wonderful walks such as the Camel trail and St Necten's Glen to name but a few!
Climb the Tor, meet the local sheep, cows, chickens and ponies, listen to the birdsong. We have swallows nesting in the summer and the famous starling murmurations fly overhead twice a day from mid October until early spring. A real sight to behold.

A little piece of paradise
We truly enjoyed our stay in the Cornwall area. John and Wendy were extremely welcoming. They’ve created a wonderful little cottage which is in a great location in which to explore the area. After a day of exploring, it was nice to return to the cottage and just relax! The listing is definitely as described and we spent evenings overlooking the Tor in the very comfortable conservatory. There is an outdoor area with fire pit we would have taken advantage of had the evenings been rain free. A great experience and would definitely book again if travelling in same area.

Simply wonderful
We had a wonderful stay at Mabel’s cottage. John and Wendy were great hosts, very easy check in and then left us to enjoy our stay, but we’re on hand if we needed it. The cottage is really comfortable with amazing outdoor space and views over the tor. We only wish we had stayed longer. We will be back!

The perfect base for exploring North Cornwall
We had a lovely stay here. Wendy and John were very welcoming, and greeted us on arrival to show us around. The cottage itself is wonderful; thoughtfully decorated throughout with lots of luxurious little touches, and all the amenities you could need. The conservatory is a lovely place to admire the view when the weather inevitably takes a turn. Wadebridge, Padstow, Port Isaac etc. Are all in easy reach. We'd highly recommend the place to any couple looking for a peaceful break, and expect we'll be back ourselves before too long

Why they chose this property

From the minute we saw this 150 year old converted barn we fell in love with it. We really do have the best of both worlds.. from the stunning views over Roughtor, lake and moorland, to the close proximity of the rugged north Cornish coastline with its quaint fishing villages and wonderful surfing beaches.
If it is a peaceful and quiet retreat you are looking for then Mabel's Cottage is the place to be.
We love it here and hope you will too.
