About this property

Hilltop - sleeps 16 guests in 7 bedrooms

Hilltop is a luxurious holiday house that sleeps up to 16 plus 2 travel cots. The house is located just a few minutes walk away from a wonderful clean sandy beach at Mundesley on the North Norfolk Coast.

The imposing Edwardian villa was built in 1907 for Sir William Brampton Gurdon, the MP for North Norfolk and until recently has been a very well loved family home – which you feel as you walk in! We have extensively refurbished the house so it is now a spacious holiday home for up to 16 (two beds are bunks in a family room) with space for travel cots.

Hilltop is conveniently located only a few minutes walk to the beach and just a short walk from the quaint village where you will find a Post Office, Corner Stores, Fish and Chip shop and Pub.

The beach at Mundesley is considered one of Norfolk's finest - long and sandy with safe swimming at low tide and all the amenities and charm of a popular seaside resort. The beach is backed by a promenade lined with colourful beach huts and a popular Beach Café.

We have parking for up to 6 cars, but the close proximity to the village and beach means you can have a car free holiday, especially if you book an online supermarket shop to arrive when you do.

As the name suggests the house sits at the top of a ‘hill’, albeit given it’s in Norfolk the hill is not really a hill but the slight elevation does mean the house has lovely sea views from the first and second floors.

The house is large enough to easily accommodate everyone. We have purposely retained the individual reception rooms to provide cosy spaces to catch up or read a book or watch something different on the TV or just sit in with a glass of wine or cup of tea, without feeling you have to do everything together. The kids are well catered for both inside in a Kid’s Den and out in the large garden, so you can hopefully get some time to yourselves to relax and enjoy the Hot Tub. The Hot Tub is located in a log cabin making it lovely to use rain or shine

We also welcome up to 4 well behaved dogs.
We love it and hope you will too!
A warm welcome awaits you. We have created a stylish get relax feel to the house and have used a coastal theme to decorate with coordinating soft-furnishings and accessories.

Our guests constantly tell us how comfortable the beds are. Each bed is made prior to your arrival using Egyptian cotton bedding with hypoallergenic duck down duvets and pillows. We do have a few man-made duvets and pillows should you prefer. You will find plenty of white fluffy towels for use in the bathrooms and separate hot hub towels – just bring your own beach towels and cot bedding.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are found on the second and first floors:
First Floor
2 en-suite rooms with king size beds and power showers – 1 of which has sea views
A family en-suite room with a king bed which can be made into two single beds along with a set of adult sized bunk beds with a sea view

1 twin room adjacent to the family bathroom with a roll top bath with a power shower over the bath
Second Floor
A double room with a king size bed and a sea view
A double room with either a king size bed or two singles
A twin bedded room – great for little ones as restricted height in places
A family shower room with a power shower
Ground Floor
On the ground floor you will find two large comfortable sitting rooms both with 40” flat screen smart TVs.. Both sitting rooms lead off the dining room with a bespoke dining table and chairs sitting 16 guests.
The kitchen is very well equipped with a range cooker with 2 full size ovens, a large gas hob, combination microwave, American fridge freezer, large larder fridge, 2 dishwashers, a washer dryer, a Nespresso machine, 2 slow cookers, a breakfast bar with 4 bar stools and a wide selection crockery and glassware for 16. Of course you will find all the cooking utensils and pans needed to cook a gourmet meal or BBQ on the terrace using the charcoal BBQ. We have even supplied a few cookery book in case you are stuck for inspiration and plastic champagne wine glasses for the Hot Tub.
You will also find the ‘Kids Den’ just off the kitchen. Not only will you find another smart TV and bean bags for chilling but also a variety of toys and games for a range of ages. Stair gates and 2 high chairs are also provided along with plastic plates, cups and cutlery. Two travel cots are available but please bring your own cot linen.

In transforming Hilltop into a luxurious holiday home we have remained true to its Edwardian roots whilst ensuring all the 21st century ‘essentials’ are provided:
• A Hot Tub in its own log cabin within the large garden
• A large charcoal BBQ and quality garden furniture enabling all 16 people to eat ‘al fresco’ on the terrace
• A very well equipped kitchen with a large range cooker, 2 dishwashers, washer tumbler dryer, an American Fridge Freezer, 2 slow cookers, Nespresso machine and large larder fridge
• A formal dining room which will seat all 16 guests
• Two cosy sitting rooms both with flat screen Smart TVs – just bring your Netflix password
• A high ratio of bathrooms to bedroom offering a combination of showers and baths – all power showers
• Fibre Wifi
• A Kid’s Den offering a range of toys for the little ones, a flat screen TV, wooden play kitchen and a variety of games and books
• In the large garden (a third of an acre) you will also find a wooden play house,
including a table tennis table
• Gas fired central heating included in the price and double glazing to keep you warm and cosy
• Parking for up to 6 cars – so you can park the car and forget about it during your break as everything is within walking distance
• Dog friendly – up to 4 dogs included in the price
• All beds made for you prior to arrival and all bedding and towels included, with the exception of beach towels

All major supermarkets will deliver to the door !

We offer a 6pm check out on a Sunday afternoon when you book a two night weekend stay. This enables you to enjoy your last day to the full.

Family holiday
A lovely property, big but cosy. Family group with ages ranging from 4-70. Plenty of places to chill out by yourself if needed. The children all loved the play room in the house with its own TV and the play kitchen. Everyone enjoyed the garden. Table tennis, tree swing and space to run around. Hot tub was enjoyed by all. Host very friendly and helpful. Shame about the weather. Thank you Sarah.

Dad’s 70th birthday weekend
17 of us stayed at the beautiful Hilltop for our Dad’s 70th birthday. From our youngest being age 2 to our dad, 70, the house was enjoyed by all. Very warm and welcoming feel, clean and well equipped. Really lovely big garden too. Only a short walk to the beach, shops, fish & chips and pub. Plus a nice play park for children. Highly recommend and hope to return soon.

Wonderful weekend
We stayed at Hilltop for my husbands 40th birthday. We had a wide range of ages from 8 to 69! The house was ideal for everyone, lots of space to be together but also have your own space when you want it. Bedrooms are all a good size and house is well equipped. There is not much in the village but the beach is stunning. We had some lovely fish and chips on the Friday and dined at the Gunton Arms on the Saturday - which I would recommend. A great weekend in a lovely house!

I holidayed in Mundesley as a small child and have very fond memories of family holidays on the beautiful sandy beach. In those days the Beach Cafe sold 'boxes' of tea including a tea pot and milk jug!

Why they chose this property

We loved it from the minute we first saw it - the house cuddles you and although a large house does not overwhelm you. With great sea views from its prominent location the house provides an excellent base for enjoying the wonderful sandy beach or various local activities - providing a great holiday location for young and old.
