About this property

A sudeley castle cottage that sleeps 4 guests in 3 bedrooms

St. Kenelm is an apartment that was completely refurbished in February 2017, including a new kitchen, bathroom, and soft furnishings throughout. The apartment was restored from a paper mill to make spectacular accommodation with exposed stone walls and original beams. It is named after St Kenelm, who was a member of the royal family of Mercia, a boy king and martyr, who was murdered by an ambitious relative, and his body was transported by the Monks of Winchcombe to become a major shrine.

The accommodation is arranged over two floors. Downstairs comprises of an open-plan lounge, dining area, and fully equipped kitchen, and the apartment boasts views over the nearby river and cottage courtyard.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms. One double bedroom and two single rooms, perfect for friends sharing or children who prefer having some privacy!

Note: due to the number of steps, this property is not suitable for guests with mobility problems.

Please note the apartment entrance is on the first floor up a flight of external stairs. Then there are internal stairs leading up to the apartment.

First Floor

Living/Dining/Kitchen Area:
A bright, well-lit open plan area makes up the first floor of St Kenelm. Comfortable sofa seating for 4, coffee table, Freeview TV and DVD player, and a good-size dining table and bench seating for 4. The kitchen at St Kenelm has a discernible country-cottage feel, with fresh-cream coloured cabinets and wooden work surfaces. The kitchen is complete with a Neff cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, Russel Hobbs toaster + kettle, and Nespresso coffee machine.

Second Floor

Please note that there are steep stairs leading up to the bedrooms and bathroom.

Bedroom One:
A comfortable and bright double bedroom with a beautiful skylight offering views over the cottage courtyard. Complete with a chest of drawers as well as additional hanging space.

Family Bathroom:
Adjacent to the double bedroom is the family bathroom, a bright and modern bathroom with a WC, washbasin, and full-size bath with a fixed overhead shower.

Bedrooms Two & Three:
Almost identical single bedrooms featuring a comfortable single bed each, as well as drawer and hanging space. Both bedrooms benefit from attractive beams as well as a low-level window and skylight.

A fantastic stay
We stayed here whilst working at Sudeley Castle for a couple of days and it was fantastic. Clean, comfortable, cozy and a brilliant price. All the amenities you could need, a lovely quiet location, plenty of parking. We loved it.

Staying In St Kenelm
We had a lovely stay here; while there were a few cars in the carpark, we didn’t really see anyone else and it didn’t feel busy, which was nice. The location is fantastic for walking and there was plenty to do for the 3 days we stayed. The castle is fantastic and my two boys loved it so much, we visited twice! We also found everyone to be really friendly. The cottage had everything we needed and made for a comfortable stay.

8/10 Good

Short stay
We had an enjoyable short stay at St Kenelm. We found a lot of flies in the property - dead & alive, a quick vacuum & open windows did the trick. One of our group got stuck in the bathroom as door handle required 2 downward movements to open from the inside! She failed to open the door each time she used the bathroom! So maybe someone could look at the mechanism. The walk around Sudeley castle was fantastic & as it was free balanced out the cleaning expense added to the rental charge.
