About the property

New build direct lake front 126" PRIVATE shore w lake deck! near Rhinebeck Bard

Private Lakefront Cottage on Spring Fed Lake is brand new construction, as well as new to the rental market -- everything is new and finally finished!! We are approximately two hours from New York City located in the beautiful Hudson Valley with all that the valley has to offer and approximately 10 minutes to Bard College. We will be open year round! The Lily Pad Cottage at Spring Lake is private and is perched over lake with panoramic views of 126 feet of shoreline with a new lake deck with tree canopy. The lake is fed by natural cold springs.

There is a long tree lined private road which leads to your private getaway and the Lily Pad is the first cottage on the right -- surrounded by 100 yr old trees. There is a lot of calm and nature... If you are looking for romance, peace and quiet or to just get away, this would be it! The Lily Pad is a perfect couples retreat, artist retreat as well as able to accommodate a family of 4. We are in a private lake community. There are no motor boats allowed - you may kayak etc. boating season begins in May and no need for a fishing license.

We are excited for the new steps to lake as well as new lake-side deck by the shore that are now complete!

The cottage is 864 square feet with a covered front porch as well as a covered back porch that is a spacious 280 square ft. There are two kayaks, paddles and fishing poles for your use as well as vinyl boat and two seater float and hammock as well as gas grill. We will be adding two new wooden chaise lounges for the new lake side deck which is approximately 24 feet long.

There are two roomy bedrooms, one with a king size bed and cathedral ceiling and fan and the other with a queen size bed and both with closets. There are extra sheets and blankets. There is one bathroom with cast iron tub and tile shower combination, plenty of towels and beach towels. The living room has a cathedral ceiling and fan with windows abound with a french door that leads to the back porch where there is ample seating and lovely rocking chairs and is perfect for bird watching. The kitchen has a vaulted ceiling and plenty of storage with white shaker style cabinetry and quartz countertop along with full size stainless appliances and washer/dryer.

There is a log right by the shore line the turtles use quite often. There is also a cute duck family that lives on the lake as well as Canadian geese new babies and visiting swans, cranes deer, beavers, foxes, hawks - nature abounds! This lake is unique to the area as the water is always beautiful due to the springs that well up from the bottom of the lake. Spring Lake connects via a small bridge to a smaller lake on the other end - thus the true name is Spring Lakes.

The quaint town of Red Hook is approximately 10 minutes away and Rhinebeck approximately 15 minutes away. Milan is a small hamlet very close to the Taconic Parkway and Elizaville. Red Hook and Rhinebeck (Beekman Arms - oldest Inn in America) offer antiquing, shopping, dining etc. Bard College is a stones throw. A favorite hike is poets walk in Rhinebeck. Omega Institute, Clermont State Park in Germantown right on the Hudson River is lovely all year long and a favorite along with the town of Millbrook and Woodstock which is across the river. There are a few farms nearby as well with farm stands. Seasonal picking is available at Gregg farm. Bash Bish Falls is a hidden gem great for hiking and a nearby favorite.

About Roberta Boyle

In my early years I grew up on the lake and it was always home for me - swimming and boating and fishing in the summer and ice skating in the winter! I mostly loved all of the moods of the lake which are always changing! I love singing/songwriting and the lake always inspired me...

Roberta Boyle purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Roberta Boyle chose Red Hook

My parents sold our house we grew up in that was on Spring Lake when I was appx 18 and for years after I looked for property to return and as fate would have it over 40 years later I found it and now am able to share with others.. There were so many challenges to build this cottage whatever could've gone wrong pretty much did but we feel blessed to have and share it and come back to the lake after so many years and we are so glad we are finally finished!

What makes this cottage unique

What makes it unique is that it is fed by natural cold springs. Only one neighbor -- in the woods with the sounds of nature you are surrounded by undisturbed natural setting like a nature preserve. There are all kinds of fish in the lake big and small. Really a get away from it all to peace and quiet. Take walks along the long dirt road, sit by the shoreline watch the turtles and the different moods of the lake and read a book or go kayaking or just relax. Winter as well as fall is also a special time and very beautiful at the cottage, we will stay open! Everything in this cottage is brand new!

Guestbook comments from the owner

My husband and I stayed at the Lily pad the second week in September and just loved it. From the moment of arrival it was serene and was so nice to be in the nature away from it all. The cottage was very clean which is so important to us. Most everything is brand new and was so nice to sit by the shoreline as there is quite a lot of privacy also loved listening to the crickets at night. We miss it already can't wait to go back! Highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

...if you want crowds, expensive food, extreme heat, and a small hotel room :)

Or....head to the Lily Pad!!!!

Private lake, amazing and perfect house, all the amenities you could ever ask for, a great number of restaurants very close by and owners that care about your experience. I asked if there was a DVD player in the house in case of that all day rain storm....and the answer was no....BUT - give us a day and we will get one. THAT is the kind of accommodations the owners provide.

The lake can only be used by people living in the homes on the lake and there aren't many homes there. We visited during the 4th of July holiday weekend and I maybe counted 5 or 7 people at MOST on the lake during sporadic times. Very friendly people too.

My buddy and I were there to fish the lake....and I will tell you - we caught 62 fish in 4 days. Bass (large, small and rock), Trout, and Blue Gill. I wish I could post a photo....we caught 3 6+ pound Bass. The LAKE was perfect.

Only complaint I have is that I couldn't book for next year ON THE SPOT :)

All kidding aside....this was the absolute perfect get away from the accommodations, town and surrounding towns, the lake, activities, and owners. Also...Rhinebeck is like 6.5 miles away. It's the most incredible walking town around. Lot's of antiquing to be had in Rhinebeck. Don't wait....just BOOK IT !

Exactly the escape from the city we needed

  • 5 of 5

My husband, almost 4 year old son and I spent an incredibly relaxing weekend at this beautiful cottage. The weather wasn't perfect, the farms were not open, and yet it was the perfect getaway. My son loved being in nature, observing how quiet it was, collecting rocks, listening to the frogs, looking at the stars at night and watching the lake close up, from the porch and from the living room. From sitting in the rocking chairs experiencing the calm of the lake to venturing into Red Hook and Rhinebeck, we had a wonderful stay. When the internet wasn't work, Roberta was immediately responsive and it was fixed as fast as she could get Frontier to get there. We really appreciated the responsiveness. We look forward to returning in the warmer weather and/or the fall.

Beautiful, comfy cottage by the lake

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, secluded cottage - great spot for bird watching, reading or just relaxing. House is clean, comfortably, and thoughtfully furnished. There's a great deck to laze about on, any time of the day. We'd love to go back when it's warmer, to take advantage of the lake! Roberta was a great host.

Great place to get away from it all

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Roberta's lakefront cottage was absolutely amazing. It's a bright, sunny, and cheerful little place in a great location . You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but the town is only a few minutes away. The view is stunning and the cottage is very comfortable. Roberta, the owner, is a sweetheart and she immediately took care of a couple of minor issues that came up. We will definitely come back in the summer. Thank you for the wonderful stay.
