On the fourth floor with Elevator, Wifi, AC,Washing machine, fully equipped kitchen.Linen and towels all provided.

Domus Picta is an unique funky, délabré stylish apartment .It was once destined to be an artist’s studio who painstakingly stripped the walls of decades worth of paint to reveal the original turn of the century interior. Paintings and thoughtfully hand picked furniture that enhances the flow of the apartment. On the fourth floor easily accessible with elevator. It has 3 large, bright, cool and quiet double bedrooms, two brand new bathrooms with shower, and an open plan living room with a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area that seats 8 people, living area with a comfortable sofa and arm chairs. Wifi connection and Air Conditioning is in every room. Consciously we didn’t add a TV to the apartment because we think that the apartment is so charming and the beautiful city of Rome offers too much to do that you will not miss your TV time.

Wonderful base of operations!
The apartment was perfect for our family of 4, with each kid getting his own room. It was conveniently located within a 10 minute walk of the train station (Roma Termini) with a park (with live music most nights), metro station, shops, and plenty of restaurants nearby. It was a 20 minute walk to the Colosseum and other popular sights. Costanza was friendly, prompt, and helpful with tips for food and places to go but then left us to our own devices. The apartment was clean and well-appointed with extremely quick and effective air conditioning... A necessity in the July heatwave we were there for! The only negatives were outside of the apartment itself. We encountered a rat in the stairwell, broken glass in the hallways, and a lot of late-night and early-morning noise but these things are all out of the control of the renter so didn't affect the overall rating. And that overall rating is excellent. I would stay here again and definitely recommend the place to someone looking for lots of space (3 couples could stay here comfortably) and a comfortable stay just on the edge of the downtown core.

Great spot
This property is a bit removed from some of the more touristy areas, but conveniently close to get there with public transit. The properly feels very spacious. The host is very friendly, and easy to deal with. Would definitely stay again!

Perfect Apartment in the Esquilino
This apartment was perfect for us (2 couples) while staying in Rome. The location was excellent ... just a few minutes walk from the Vittorio Emanuele Metro station, a wonderful Farmers Market just steps away, and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The apartment itself was clean and spacious, and the building had a lift, so bringing luggage up to the 4th floor was no problem!

Great stay in Rome at Christmas
We had a great stay in Rome for Christmas. We were 6 adult people and there was a lot of room. We made Christmas dinner so we used the kitchen. There is no microwave but we warmed up things on the stove. Both bathrooms were usable and in good shape. It was close to the train station and we walked to the ruins and all the other tourist locations. We enjoy walking but if you can't walk the accommodation is so close to all the tourist stops if you use a taxi or the public transit. It was a great place to stay.

Great place and Location
This was a very nice spacious place to stay with a family. Very nice host and extremely helpful in so many ways. Using her shuttle to and from the Airport was well worth it.

My name is Costanza, friend and property manager of Maya and Giovanni, the owners. I help them to manage their property. I was born in Rome. I live in Trastevere, one of Rome’s unique neighborhoods. I speak fluent German and English. I have always been interested and curious about other cultures. I love art in all its manifestations. In my free time I enjoy the soothing beauty of nature in the Tuscan countryside. I have worked over 10 years in the vacation-rental business. There is no better place than doing this business in Rome. I love Rome not only because it is my native city but also because it has infinite mysteries to disclose. After all this years living here, I am still enthusiastically exploring Rome’s art, history, museums, food, neighborhoods etc. And I can’t wait to share all this with you.

Why they chose this property

The neighborhood of the Esquilino is the highest of the seven hills of Rome. Today it has a multicultural demography. Today, many directors and actors are living in this neighborhood too. Although it's main buildings are from the end of the century it is still imbued with roman and early christian presence. As we can see in the "Trofei di Mario" ( a roman fountain), the rests of “Castellum Aquae” collection point from 8 of the 11 aqueducts of ancient Rome in piazza Vittorio, ’Arch of Gallieno" (an entrance into the Servian Walls from the Roman Republican era), "Auditorium of Mecenate", "Bath of Diocletian", and the "National Roman Museum", the basilica of "Santa Maria Maggiore", "Santa Prassede", "San Martino ai Monti", with their underground early christian chambers of the 4th century... in short the neighborhood offers so many historical destinations to visit.

What makes this property unique

The apartment is 3 minutes by foot from Piazza Vittorio Emanuele (Metro line A, tram line), 5 minutes from Termini Train Station (Terminal for the two airports, metro line A and B, the terminus for the main bus and tram lines), and 15 minutes walk from the Coliseum.

The entire ancient, historical down town is easily travelled by foot. From Piazza di Spagna you can walk to Piazza Montecitorio; from there you continue to Piazza di Pietra, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Campo dei Fiori and then you can cross over the bridge Ponte Sisto to Santa Maria di Trastevere. It is a beautiful 40 minute walk (it obviously will take longer if you stop for a delicious Italian Gelato, glass of vine or have children walking with you!)
The tickets for tram ,buses and metro are sold at newspaper stands or in the “Tabaccherie”.
One advise while taking the public transportations: keep you valets and purses and personal belongings under constant watch (never behind your body)- there is plenty of pickpocketing!
Rome can also be experienced by riding bikes or scooters that can be rented. If you decide to do so, be an attentive driver because Rome's traffic is quite challenging and unpredictable.

From the Termini Station you can take the red line to go to Piazza di Spagna and the Vatican. Since your apartment is situated at the center of down town many sites can be reached by foot.
Enjoy your journey !
