This new, well-appointed 2 bedroom suite is walking distance to downtown Victoria, the Inner Harbor, Craigdarroch Castle, Government House, the Victoria Art Gallery, and Fernwood Village. Also a lovely stroll to Oak bay village, Cook Street Village, Beacon Hill park and the beach. We are central and convenient to all downtown amenities.

The suite, boasting 960 square feet (90 square meters) of comfortable west coast living with two bedrooms, is located on the upper floor of a completely renovated, 120 year old character home (rebuild completed in the fall of 2015).

Featuring a large, open concept living/dining/kitchen space, gas fireplace, all new stainless steel appliances, gas range, Brazilian granite counter-tops with under-mount sinks, all custom built cabinetry and two bedrooms with new queen size beds. There is also a queen size futon for additional accommodation. A crib and booster seat is available on request.

Large windows turn all rooms into bright and sunny living spaces.

To complete the picture there is a 95sqft (9sqmt) covered balcony (complete with gas grill) overlooking the lovely gardens in the backyard, with a view to downtown Victoria and the inner harbor. This is a perfect spot to sit and enjoy your morning coffee and paper, visit with friends, or a lazy afternoon of reading. In the evening, watch the sun set over downtown and the inner harbor after grilling the perfect meal!

The bright, kitchen is well stocked with everything to keep the cooks among you happy. A perfect place to prepare all the fresh local meats and produce available from the local markets or the "catch of the day" from Fisherman's Wharf.

Wireless internet, cable tv, laundry, off street parking, and an ideal location for those wanting to be close to all the amenities, completes the picture.

About Jim

I am a semi-retired engineer born and raised on the prairies (Saskatchewan). I relocated to North Carolina in 2002 and then Vancouver Island in 2004, purchasing the Johnson Street property in 2009.

Having residences in Victoria and the Cowichan Valley, I have traveled extensively (car and motorcycle) throughout Vancouver Island, Western Canada and the Northwestern United States.

As a landlord and vacation property owner, my goal is to be as helpful, friendly and responsive as possible to the needs of my guests, assuring that you have what you need to explore Victoria and Vancouver Island. My hope is that you will have the best possible experience during your stay in Victoria.

Whether you’d like to discover Victoria and the Island on foot, car, tour bus, go whale watching, or simply need info on our favorite tacos, coffee shops and restaurants in the area, I always try to be available to provide you with my experience living in the area.

Why Jim chose Fernwood

The first time I viewed this grand old home with it's beautiful yard and gardens, I fell in love with it and decided to purchase it in 2009.

In need of considerable love and attention I decided to paint the interior, spruce it up and then rented the home for the first few years while I made plans and arrangements for a major renovation. In 2013Ie undertook a complete rebuild of the property, completing the project in the fall of 2015.

Very pleased with the result, maintaining the look and character of its 120 year old bones and the surrounding neighborhood, the interior spaces have been updated to provide very comfortable, bright, and open living areas.

This beautiful suite provides a "home away from home" while you explore all that Victoria has to offer.

Walking or biking distance to all major attractions in Victoria. Access to attractions in the greater Victoria area are only a short drive or bus ride.

Close proximity (5-10 minute drive) to the Pat Bay and number 1 highways makes exploring "Paradise Island" an easy proposition.

What makes this apartment unique

Situated in the heart of Victoria B.C. and a 5 minute walk to the "funky" Fernwood Village center, this location lends itself to exploring Victoria on foot or bicycle. We love the convenience of walking to the local coffee shops and restaurants, the Belfry theater for live shows, and just exploring all the unique shops and sights of downtown Victoria. Taking the dogs for a run on Dallas road and relaxing over tacos or pizza in Cook street village are some of our favorites. And the inner harbor comes alive in the spring through fall with buskers of all sorts. Outdoor movies in the park, the IMAX theater and Royal BC Museum, the bug zoo, and the list goes on...

And if you have time to explore Vancouver Island, the opportunities for fun and adventure are numerous. Hiking, caving, mountain climbing, beach combing, swimming, kayaking, and some of the best scuba diving available. This island is very aptly referred to by many as "Paradise Island". But be careful, one trip to this island was all it took for us to fall in love with it's green forests, oceans, and climate, and start making plans to pull up stakes and make the move west to the Island. You can hardly help falling in love with this little piece of paradise!

A wonderful little place to call home for a week! Comfortable and clean.

We had a very pleasant stay at this property, its close to everything in downtown Victoria and easy to find your way around. We were greeted with fresh fruit and bagels with delicious cream cheese. Really did feel like home after a couple of days. We would rent this suite again for sure!

A GREAT place to stay in downtown Victoria

We spent a very enjoyable six weeks here in February and March, 2018. This was our second winter in Victoria at this same unit!

The suite is a very spacious two bedroom, well furnished and well appointed with all appliances and BBQ. The kitchen is well supplied with dishes, utensils, cookware, condiments and even a basic supply of spices. We noticed that the owner continues to add amenities from year to year.The master bedroom is at the rear and quite quiet. A great place for a stay, short or long.

The apartment is much larger than the pictures would suggest and the beds are very comfortable and firm. The unit was spotless when we arrived!

The owners live downstairs and are quiet. They are quite unobtrusive (we only ran into them three or four times) but available when you need them.

The location is also quite good, close enough to shops, restaurants and medical facilities. We only moved the car a half dozen times in six weeks due to the closeness of everything.

We will definitely consider this unit for our next stay in Victoria.
