About this property

Superb Georgian farmhouse with breathtaking views over North York Moors

Thirley Cotes Farmhouse is a Grade II listed property dating back to the 1830’s and settled on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors and Coast.

Sleeping 8 and surrounded by wild countryside with superb south facing views (especially enjoyed from the hot tub), this a wonderful retreat for families, groups of friends, couples and up to 2 canine companions searching for plenty of space within easy reach of Scarborough, Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hood’s Bay and the surrounding seaside towns and villages.

With Scarborough also just a short drive away, this self-catering cottage is the perfect fit for those seeking to explore the local scenery and offers an abundance of cliff top trails and outdoor activities within easy reach. Closer to home, you can explore four acres of woodland or focus on watching the bird and wildlife that drifts past the doorstep on a daily basis.

The Cottage Escapes office is based at Thirley Cotes Farm, so staff are on hand to welcome you and provide help or guidance during your stay. We also offer a welcome pack of milk, biscuits, wine, bread and jam and treats for your four-legged friends, too.

Countryside meets coast at Grade II listed Thirley Cotes Farm. A collection of 8 Georgian self catering cottages sleeping 2 – 42 and perched on the edge of the North Yorkshire Coast and Moors, just a short drive from the seaside towns of Scarborough, Whitby, Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay.

Tucked away down a meandering country lane, this blissful retreat is surrounded by stunning views of rolling countryside and offers easy access to excellent walking and cycling routes from the doorstep. The surrounding 21 acres are the pièce de résistance of this quintessentially country hideaway and private hot tubs are perfect for whiling away an afternoon alfresco.

Why they chose this property

Set in a prominent position in Harwood Dale, Thirley Cotes Farm was brought back to its original beauty and taken to the next level by our team of architects, designers and talented creative professionals who were involved at every stage. After all, who wants to settle for off-the-shelf, when you can experience off-the-charts.

Each of the Yorkshire stone cottages has been designed to meet the demands of modern life. With beautiful open plan living spaces and hand built enclosed gardens and we have worked hard to retain many of the original features.

Whether you’re in need of a romantic getaway for two or enough space for all the family, explore our collection of cottages at Thirley Cotes Farm – we have just the place for you.

What makes this property unique

Right outside the door of this North Yorkshire cottage is a table and chairs for morning coffee (or just to sit and listen to the bird song) and private hot tub set in the patio garden, complete with Weber barbeque. To the side of the property is an enclosed lawn (perfect for four-legged friends) and if little ones are feeling adventurous, there’s an outdoor play area and indoor games room, complete with pool table, table hockey and table tennis. Or why not get back to nature? After all, Thirley Cotes Farm is the perfect base for an outdoor adventure or spot of wildlife watching and you may just catch a glimpse of our resident barn owl. Please note children must be supervised at all times.
