About this property

Grizzly Suite at Rocky Mountain Front Retreat - Harmony in paradise

The Grizzly Suite at the Rocky Mountain Front Retreat is located 23 miles NW of Choteau, at close to 5,000 feet above sea level, on a 20 acre section of the historic Moore homestead established in 1919. If you are looking to experience the 'last best place' in the Crown of the Continent, where the rugged Rocky Mountains meet the expansive Great Plains, this is it.

Many outdoor activities are at your door step, such as hiking, photography, running or biking. Also, there are over 1,000 miles of wilderness trails close by in the Lewis and Clark National Forest and the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Plus, there are fishing, hunting and skiing opportunities in season.

There are very few places to stay located on the Rocky Mountain Front. It is sparsely populated with plenty of wildlife viewing, including: mule and white tail deer, elk, many varieties of birds, grizzly and black bears, chipmunks, rabbits and squirrels.

For those times you prefer to be cozy and stay indoors, the interior is comfortable and inviting, with quality furniture, and fully-equipped kitchen. The area is very quiet if you are looking for some writing or other creative time.

The Grizzly Suite has high speed internet and flat screen TV for streaming from the internet, together with DVD players for watching movies.

High speed WiFi is available, as is a land line phone for local calls and calls throughout USA and Canada.

• The Rocky Mountain Front Retreat offers two suites: The Grizzly Suite and the Elk Suite.
• The Grizzly Suite (this site) can accommodate up to 5 guests.
• If you are interested in the two bedroom Elk Suite that can accommodate up to 6 guests (VRBO 822466).
• If you would prefer both the Grizzly Suite and Elk Suite, which can accommodate up to 11 guests together (VRBO 3628800).

The two suites are private and fully separated from each, joined only by a large common entry area containing the laundry and some reading/games materials.

The Retreat is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountain Front on the edge of wilderness, yet not too far from town. It truly is part of the Crown of the Continent.

Please note there are security cameras outside the entry doors and on the outside wall in the back of the property.

Beautiful area and great house
Aki and Laura have a really nice place; it’s comfortable, well-stocked, and has incredible views. We went on a few hikes nearby, which were all outstanding. Fast and reliable wifi, if that matters to you. We wish we could’ve stayed longer.

We built on the 'old homestead' about 20 years ago, with a major addition and total renovations completed over the last year, to create the Rocky Mountain Front Retreat. Family members have been spending time there, in all seasons, for many decades.

Why they chose this property

The property has been in the family for 5 generations; however, the Rocky Mountain Front Retreat is a modern and comfortable place in the 'last best place' on the Rocky Mountain Front which is part of the Crown of the Continent.

We are now excited to share the experience with discerning travelers who are looking for something unique.

What makes this property unique

There are very few places to stay located on the Rocky Mountain Front. It is sparsely populated with plenty of wildlife viewing, including mule and white tail deer, elk, many varieties of birds, black and grizzly bear, chipmunks, rabbits and squirrels.

The Rocky Mountain Front Retreat is nestled between the Lewis and Clark National Forest and Bob Marshall Wilderness to the west and the Pine Butte Preserve and the Great Plains to the east.
