Perfect for a longer stay!
Our thoughtful host, Selene met us at the property, and provided extensive information and logistics for our stay. We were extremely pleased with the accommodations, and the cottage was as described. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that while there are some sights to see in Favara, what especially impressed us was its advantageous location which was central to many of the places we visited. The cottage lies close to major highways that are easily accessed. Typically within 30-40 minutes and less, we drove inland to my ancestral home, the hill town of Sutera, and to several beautiful beaches along the coast. Even visiting the Valley of the Temples on two consecutive days, the drive was about 15 minutes.
That said, a car is necessary for travel. However, from the cottage, it is an easy walk to just beyond the end of the street to explore the large Friday market, and to drive to one of three supermarkets in close proximity. Visiting Favara's Piazza Cavour was also enjoyable with several good places to eat, and the Cultural Farm Park in the historic section is not to be missed!
The cottage is about 500 yards from the road inside a gated area, passing orchards, vineyards and olive groves. The closest supermarket is only an additional 100 yards so it's easily walkable. So while the cottage is off the main road, if you don't mind the walk, there are a lot of stores nearby.
The cottage has very high ceilings, the living spaces and furniture are comfortable, and the kitchen is well-equipped. The outdoor space and the garden are also as described. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-week stay, and appreciate how responsive Selene was to our questions as well as a couple of things that came up (such as when we accidentally turned off the switch that control the power for the air conditioner!). Selene is a friendly, charming and attentive host!
