About this property

Luxurious Georgian cottage in the hidden gem of Sibford Gower

A spacious, comfortable and tranquil hidden gem, Hillcrest Cottage is an ideal location from which to explore Cotswold towns, historical attractions like Blenheim Palace and Bletchley Park or as a base for walking the many local paths, including the D'arcy Dalton Way. The Cottage was sympathetically renovated in 2015 to retain its all its original features and charm, but to make it a luxurious escape from the bustle of life. Spacious bedrooms with Egyptian cotton bedding, ensuite bathrooms, bespoke kitchen with AGA, and two inglenook fireplaces. The private, walled garden is a perfect sun trap for balmy summers evenings and the log burning fireplaces provide the perfect retreat for crisp winter nights in the countryside.

Fantastic comfortable cottage
Very nice cottage with high quality kitchen and bathrooms. Very comfortable bed and sofas. Everything you need for a relaxing break including a wood burning stove and a fully equipped kitchen including an Aga. Hosts kindly provided bread, eggs, milk, butter, biscuits and marmalade. It was nice to meet Richard who recommended the local pub which was very nice. Very enjoyable two nights.

Wonderful
It's difficult to add anything to the long list of five-star reviews already posted. This cottage has been tastefully restored with obvious attention to detail. It is comfortable, clean, and relaxing. If you want to immerse yourself in a small, rural, English village - the population of the parish is just over 500 - you couldn't make a better choice. At the same time, it is located within easy driving distance to places like Chipping Norton, Oxford, and Stratford-upon-Avon. The host is gracious, accessable, and welcoming. We can't recommend this place highly enough.

Perfect cottage in lovely location
The cottage was beautifully decorated, it was fully equipped. There was a very pretty enclosed garden and it was a very peaceful location. The hosts were very helpful and welcoming. I would recommend this to any couples or families wanting a very comfortable stay in a great location.

When we moved back to the UK from the United States in 2006, our requirements from a village were simple- or so we thought! Good walks, excellent running terrain, a village pub, a community atmosphere and unspoilt properties with traditionally English character. Sibford has given us all this and more, it is an unspoilt village where no two days are the same; don't be surprised to see the hunt clip-clopping through the village, an escaped chicken wandering down the road, or the Red Arrows Aerobatic Display team flying overhead. We love it so much that we decided to buy Hillcrest Cottage (across the road from our main house) as a renovation project in late 2013. We hope we will be able to convey to you our love of the cottage, Sibford and the surrounding area when you come to visit us.

Why they chose this property

We lived across the road from the Cottage for 11 years, and imagined being able to buy it and give it the love and care it so sorely needed. When the opportunity presented itself, our next move was clear- to begin a labour of love which would take more than a year to complete. As you will see, we poured love and imagination into the project, revealing the unique and classic property you see today.

What makes this property unique

Most Cotswold cottages are small, cold and dark with low ceilings and a certain inflexibility. Hillcrest could not be more different. The light, airy, timeless interior paves your way to the private walled garden, an oasis of calming lavender- making it the ideal location for a summer's BBQ or to enjoy a gin and tonic while reclining on the steamer chairs after a long day of sight seeing.
