About this property

Family holiday home in rural France with large pool and far reaching views

Find peace and tranquillity at Las Brugues, an idyllic setting in unspoilt rural France. Close to the rivers Lot and Tarn, and between the pretty villages of Montaigu de Quercy and Roquecor, Las Brugues make an ideal base for your holiday in South West France.

At Las Brugues, we offer well appointed accommodation in two distinct houses, both of which have been modernised to a high standard whilst retaining the local character you’d expect from traditional French architecture. Relax in the superb swimming pool or simply enjoy the beautiful views from the surrounding pool terrace. The warmth of the summer sun and clear blue skies makes Las Brugues the ideal holiday for people seeking relaxation, and family holidays alike.

Nearby Montaigu de Quercy (4km) is ideal for every day requirements with its local shops, restaurants and a lively Saturday market. During the summer months, the Montaigu Leisure Lake is popular with those who like a sandy beach, swimming and boating. For those who prefer to be more active there is tennis and horse riding, not to forget walking and cycling as you explore this beautiful part of South West France.

The Lot and Tarn et Garonne in South West France are known for their hidden valleys, woodlands of white oak and fields of sunflowers in the summer. Explore the local French countryside and cuisine, and absorb the history of local bastide towns and lovely hilltop villages alike.

What do our guests have to say:
• "The perfect spot for a truly relaxing holiday. Amazing location."
• "Two weeks of bliss, 30 deg C, 360 deg views. We hope to be back next year."
• "Our third year and it is just as beautiful."
• "The pool was lovely. We enjoyed the local restaurants and beautiful views."
• "Quiet and relaxing stay in a beautiful house with all the accommodation we could have wished for."
• "Beautiful countryside, great for exploring and relaxing. Too many vineyards to visit in just one week!"
• "Truly amazing place! Spectacular views and beautiful part of France. Sad to be leaving but hope to come back."
• "Fab, Fab, Fab. Fantastic weather, beautiful house. Thank you."

Accommodation is provided in two distinct properties, both of which are built in white Quercy stone. La Grange is the larger building with accommodation for 8 people and the adjacent Pigeonnier accommodates a further 2 people.

La Grange, is a tastefully restored barn conversion which combines original features with:
• A modern fitted kitchen
• A large and spacious living area
• From the adjoining dining room one can step into
• A private south facing courtyard garden. This enclosed courtyard has a Mediterranean ambiance and can be extremely hot in summer.
• A large comfortable sitting room faces the pool and French windows open directly onto the poolside terrace. The staircase leads to:
• A large mezzanine above the sitting room, with TV, DVD and large sofa.
• The four bedrooms are accommodated in two wings, each with a large double bedroom with its own en suite bathroom, and a twin bedroom. High ceilings keep the rooms cool in hot weather.
• A family bathroom with a corner bath.

The Pigeonnier is a converted grain store and dovecote with exposed stonework and oak beams which has been converted to provide living and sleeping areas on two floors. The property comprises:
• A double bedroom with en suite shower room, located on the ground floor.
• Stone walls and quarry tiled floor keep this room cool during warm summer nights.
• A small ground floor terrace accessed through double doors.
• The living room also contains a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. This opens onto the first floor veranda that can also be reached by an external stone staircase. It is a perfect place for a sunny breakfast, while enjoying the extensive views of the meadows and woodlands beyond.

The Pigeonnier is separated from La Grange by the driveway and faces away from it, allowing privacy from the main property.

Other facilities to note:
• Fresh bed linen and bath & hand towels are provided at the start of each stay.
• Washing machine and ironing facilities are available in a separate utility room.
• Children's high chair available.
• Table tennis available.
• Owners sometimes on site in the months of May, June, September and October to look after the gardens and answer guest queries.

Back to Montaigu
Know this area well as seasoned gite holidaymakers. Location super and property easy to find . Pool is a good size. We had everything we needed but the photos are old and in general for the size and price band the property and decor is in need of an update. Towels and linen clean but needed more for duration of stay, toilet paper and hand soap were basic. On site Property managers were so friendly.

A relaxed stay
We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house and fantastic pool. The equipment at the pool is also fine (sunbeds and umbrellas). The gas barbecue by the pool is also in good condition and can be used for larger groups. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this accommodation is a great choice! If I may give a tip: A screen for the bedroom windows to keep the bugs out would be a good addition. Hugh, thanks for your interesting stories!

A Beautiful Holiday
The property is superb and the location is secluded which was perfect for us. The local towns and March Gourmonde were superb. We visited some of the larger towns Mosssaic snd Agen and were not impressed by these although Agen has the beautiful canal. Hugh who looks after the property was amazing and gave so many brilliant tips and ideas. We did as many as we could and all were brilliant. The only item I would ask to change is the electric BBQ for a bigger gas as it took a while to cook food and would not have been able to cope with more than 4 people

A truly french rural vacation
We spent two weeks in this quiet and rural location. The area is quintessentially old rural France. We drove to see some beautiful medieval villages, spent a long time playing in the large swimming pool, played cards and visited a water park in Agen (40 minutes away). We went to local markets and joined in with lovely local communal meals. The property had everything we needed, was very clean and the property manager was very helpful. This is a calm relaxing holiday away from the usual british holiday locations in france.
