About this property

Tyn-Y-Fron Barn overlooking the River Dee. Stunning views. Dogs welcome '

The Barn at Tynyfron. Completely self- contained barn conversion with large garden area. A cosy and sympathetic Barn Conversion with fantastic views over the Dee Valley and the hills beyond. Set on a hillside above the River Dee in the Vale of Ederynion, the eastern gateway to Snowdonia National Park. It overlooks the stretch of the River Dee featured in Mortimer and Whitehouse "GONE FISHING" And indeed appears as the cottage on the hill in some screen shots. We also feature in the programme "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE" as part of the story of Iwan Thomas. This little cottage, comfortably furnished, has been converted from an ancient barn to a quiet and warm retreat. Well equipped, cosy, warm and welcoming. Lovely lounge with wonderful outlook over the distant mountains and amazingly quiet. the Gally kitchen is well stocked with all crocks, pots etc. Access to bedroom by spiral stairs from the lounge where from the roof light you can see for miles into the valley and the hills beyond. Laze away your days with a bottle of wine either on the sheltered veranda or tucked up by the lounge window losing yourself in the view. Maybe you prefer to put on your boots and walk the amazing hills, or go sailing on Bala Lake, or maybe white water rafting just for the fun of it. Good walking for dogs in the forest above the cottage with direct access from Tyn-Y-Fron. Our visitor book is testimony to the magic that this little cottage seems to have. We have had engagements here, honeymoons, birthdays and even first baby announcements. We can guarantee that you will want to return. We welcome well behaved dogs but prefer to know the breed before arrival. We are open all year so a quiet Christmas on a Welsh hill might be just what you need.
A waymarked footpath passes right through the 13 acres of land at Tyn-Y-Fron so dog walking is easy. We really look forward to meeting you and adding you to our list of friends we have made by letting the Barn over the years.

Peter and Dee Smith.
We moved to Wales in 1996.
We started off as smallholders but decided simply to share our lovely location with others.
The Holiday Cottage was an old Barn when we moved in containing nothing more than a vintage Rolls Royce which was worth more than the cottage itself. Unfortunately the previous owners moved it before we arrived.
The Barn has been a holiday cottage for twenty years now and we look forward to many more lovely guests arriving in the future.
We have two dogs, a scruffy terrier Blodwen and a small lurcher William. We exercise our dogs mainly in the forest and because of their breeds keep them on the lead around the property itself as there are sheep and free- range hens. We also have two lovely cats which get on well with our dogs. One of our cats Tabatha loves visitors to the Barn! The other Rosey is more cautious. One of our top paddocks contains a Llama called Koobara belonging to a good friend which guests love to visit. He likes company but not strange dogs. He is friendly towards dogs that he knows.
