About this property

Secluded Villa With Private Orchard and Pool

A perfectly located, secluded villa with a well stocked orchard and a private pool, Les Hirondelles is a 15 minute walk from the historic village of Soubes with a local shop, post office and vibrant Cafe which serves excellent food and wine. A 5 minute drive brings you to the large town of Lodeve with a wealth of shopping, restaurants and a popular Saturday market. The house is also conveniently located for access to the airports of Montpellier, Beziers, Carcassonne and Perpignan, and via motorway and train links to the coast and the rest of France.

The house serves as the perfect touring location to access the Languedoc's wealth of rich cultural heritage, from the dream cities of the Midi, such as Carcassonne and Aigues Mortes, to the fortresses of the Knights Templar, and to caves once occupied by pre-historic man, and more recently by Resistance fighters during the Second World War.

Less than an hour's drive to the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean coast, the house is also close to the beautiful waterfalls at Ganges, and the spectacular Pont du Diable, as well as the famous lac du Salagou. It also provides perfect access for wildlife and walking enthusiasts who benefit from access to the rocky, medieval landscape of the plateau, to the forested mountain ranges close by.

For those interested in French culture, the house is conveniently located close to many local vineyards which produce some of France's best wines. There are also lots of opportunities to sample local cheeses, and benefit from fabulous local restaurants.

For those inclined towards a more adventurous holiday experience, head north to the spectacular city of Millau where you can parascend over the highest bridge in the world, visit Valras Plage, where you can jet ski in the crystal clear water of the Mediterranean, or go white water rafting. And in the evening, visit the bustling night life of Montpellier.

We have been coming to Soubes for more than 20 years now, initially as a family renting a rustic old house in the heart of the village. We decided to buy the house in 2000, and since then have been enjoying being a part of the village every summer. These days, our three grown-up children and grandchildren are able to enjoy the house, as it caters for all ages. No matter how many times we visit, we always find more to do in this fantastic part of the country. We hope you will be able to enjoy it every bit as much as we have done.

Why they chose this property

Soubes was the perfect location for us. Family friendly, with a huge amount to do in the local area and beyond, it serves as the perfect touring base from which to visit historical and cultural treasures, as well as the vibrant nightlife of Montpellier and the beautiful beaches of the south coast. It has the perfect balance between seclusion in the stunning countryside, and ease of access. Perfect for a quiet, relaxing getaway.

What makes this property unique

The property itself is very functional, child friendly, and benefits from a private pool, large garden and a large, fruit-filled orchard. Uniquely, there is a local British contact for any emergencies whilst on holiday.
