About this property

.Grade 11 listed cottage in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire

The Monthly Tutors Cottage is a grade 11 listed character Pembrokeshire cottage, renovated by the owner and has many original features. It has a south facing garden and a lower garden/orchard which houses a shed and log store for the wood burning fire. It has been graded by the Wales Tourist Board and has a 4 star grading.
Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday.
The cottage is situated in a wooded valley on the coastal path and is 100 metres from the sea at Lower Town and 100 metres from Fishguard town centre. It has the advantage of a rural setting with the facilities of the town close by. The coastal path is across the road from the cottage and is very scenic in either direction. There are bus links from Fishguard to other areas of the Pembrokeshire coastal path so having a car is not essential. There is a rail terminal at Fishguard Harbour which is in the neighbouring village of Goodwick and is about 1 km from the cottage. The ferry to Ireland crosses from here twice daily. There are numerous beaches on the County and many of these are small coves scattered along its coastline.
The cottage benefits from a secluded south facing garden with a lower garden and orchard. The wood burner is a key feature and gives the cottage a very cosy feel especially in the evenings with a glass of wine.
Parking is outside the cottage as the road is a no through road. Sorry no pets allowed.

Beautiful listed cottage
We stayed for 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our cottage. We can’t praise the cottage and location enough. Well stocked kitchen. We lacked for nothing in the way of kitchenware. Immaculately kept and beautifully decorated to suite the history of this listed property. Roger and Margaret are delightful caring hosts. Thank you. Would highly recommend!

Great cottage
Great cottage just the way you would want it. Just a small problem in the plumbing I gues what gives a bit of a less pleasant smell in the bathroom. But surely not stopping us from booking here again.

Perfect home from home
Lovely little cottage in Fishguard. Perfect place to come back to after a long day exploring the coast and visiting various places. Perfect home from home, cosy, had everything we needed all in one place. Would definitely recommend to anyone and would stay here again 😁😁

Very Traditional Cottage
The cottage is very authentic and lovingly decorated in detail. We particularly enjoyed the stay and daily excursions in the area can also be done well on foot and to end our romantic evenings by the fireplace. There are also all shopping facilities in the village, so that nothing is missing. So we can recommend the cottage with a very clear conscience. Thank you again for the wonderful stay in their cottage. Martina and Otto

Coexistence de la tradition et de la modernité.
Cottage bien équipé- wifi, lave vaisselle, lave linge etc. Mais salle de bains hors d'age, avec douche électrique sur baignoire etroite entourée de deux rideaux plastifiés. Pas de robinet melan geur sur le lavabo... Un poeme !

About the host

Hosted by Roger and Margaret Hayward

Host profile image
We are Roger and Margaret Hayward and purchased this cottage by auction in 1986 taking 4 years to restore it. We have kept the character of this Pembrokeshire cottage and it is our second home that we both love.
We are now both retired.
It is a Grade 11 listed property.

Why they chose this property

The cottage is close to the sea and situated in a wooded valley descending from the main town of Fishguard to the Lower town harbour. It is a superb location and on the Pembrokeshire coastal path.

What makes this property unique

When at the cottage we have the benefits of being close to the town centre and the sea as well as having the cosiness of the cottage and its wood burning fire.
We go sea foraging at the local beach for razor clams and mussels which we enjoy to cook. There are courses available nearby.
We also like to have a glass of wine in front of the wood burning fire and watch the birds outside which are in abundance. A truly relaxing place to stay.
