About this property

Keswick Apartment, Former Railway House, Beautiful Views, Private Parking

Step out of the door in The Lake District and walk on the fells in all directions from Keswick without the need to use your car. Easy access to launches on Derwentwater and buses into Borrowdale and surrounding valleys. Fifteen minute walk to Keswick town centre. Five minute walk to well-stocked mini supermarket at the BP station.

This is a warm, comfortable two bedroom apartment in the top half of a former railway house, situated on the outskirts of Keswick. The house is built in traditional local stone with the top half rendered and painted white. The apartment has a spacious lounge, plus a good sized double bedroom and bathroom. The double bed is 5 foot wide. A small bedroom has two bunk beds. These are custom built and 175 cms long so anyone over 6 foot would not be able to stretch out. The dining kitchen seats up to four, and is equipped to a very high standard.. There is off road private parking for two cars. The apartment has panoramic views of the Grassmoor Group of hills, from the lounge and both bedrooms. This is an ideal location for walking, and exploring the Lake District with easy access to all the amenities of Keswick town.

Lovely stay in Keswick
Thank you for a lovely stay in Keswick. The property had everything we needed as a home base for exploring. The property was in a great location - short walk into Keswick along the path and well situated for exploring the rest of the Lake District.

Misleading description
We stayed here for four nights. The property was located on a busy road and is not as it appears on the picture. The bunk bed would only be suitable for young children. It would be much too short and the mattresses too uncomfortable for adults. For international travellers, the lack of linens (supplied for an extra fee, we were aware of that) was annoying. There was very little kitchen condiments, just salt, cooking oil and a small bag of sugar. The apartment was spacious and bright. It was very nice to have a warm soak in the tub after hiking. The owner was very helpful in providing information on local pubs and hikes.

Lovely stay close to town
A really cosy and convenient location for a stay in the mountains! We really loved our time here. The kitchen was well-equipped and the home was nice and warm as well. The fact that it was close to the road was not a bother at all- it wasn’t noisy

Excellent accommodation
It was clean, tidy, well equipped and cosy. Location was great 10mins into town and conveniently located on disused railway line so no busy roads to walk into town.

About the host

4 Ridgemount is owned by Catherine and John Edgar who lived in Cumbria for over 30 years, although we have now moved to Worcestershire. We are ardent walkers and love the theatre.

Why they chose this property

Keswick is an ideal base for our family holidays as it allows us such easy walking access to the the lakes and is also an outlet for the cultural aspects of Keswick such as the famous theatre, book and jazz festivals etc. There are plenty of activities for families with young or older children in the town and in the area. Keswick also has a good choice of pubs and restaurants

The apartment is very cosy with stunning views, this is why we fell for it.

What makes this property unique

The benefit above other properties is that it is near but not in the town centre and is therefore quiet with good views yet close to amenities. We have 2 designated off road private parking spaces at the back of the property. We are on a bus route and also right next to the old railway track which is now a cycling and walking route.

We do not increase our prices over the summer or at holiday times.
