What a fabulous birthday treat
For my birthday a group of friends treated me to a 3 day stay at Kasbah Africa....itwas the big 50 after all. We are all keen walkers but you cannot go to Marrakech and not explore it a bit first. Chaos, colour, vibrant the works. Nice to stay near the centre at Riad Africa who looked after everything we needed but we couldn't wait to get to the mountains. Kasbah Africa was all it promised and more. Unbeknown to me my riends had rented the whole place so it was our private gettaway. Great rooms, fab food and a cold drink by the pool but it was the scenery and the walking that stole the show. Abdul the guide was knowledgable, courteous and everything was no problem. Picnics were taken with great views, tea was drunk in villages and views have burnt themselves forever into my memory. Back at Kasbah a hot shower, good meal and comfy place to sleep and we were a very happy group and were sad to leave. We booked the whole package through Kasbah and were glad we did as all the sections; transport, accomadation and guides all connected perfectly.

Born into a family hotel business, I'm originally from East Yorkshire and have spent my life working in the travel and hospitality business - as an adventure tour guide in Africa and Asia, a rental property owner, tour operator and hotelier. I've been lucky enough to travel all over the world but now choose to spend my time in Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains.

Why they chose this property

Only a 3 hour low-cost flight away, Marrakech is the closest exotic African city to the UK. It is also a convenient gateway for easy access to the Atlas Mountains. After a few days in the city I am always keen to escape the bustling medina, traffic and noise. The Atlas Mountains rising above the city offer an irresistible lure. After hearing about this property in a remote valley location I was hooked. With a scenic drive from Marrakech and with sweeping views of the Azzaden Valley against a backdrop of High Atlas peaks, the opportunity to take over Kasbah Africa was one not to be missed. This is an untouched part of the Atlas Mountains - very peaceful - with a colourful, hospitable local community of Berbers.

What makes this property unique

For those seeking escape and relaxation Kasbah Africa provides an antidote to the stresses of modern life. The Kasbah offers a wide range of local activities, day trips and tours including guided walks to nearby Berber villages, Atlas treks, Toubkal climbs, nature trails, mule treks, cooking courses, and 4×4 trips to remote mountain villages and beyond. Day trips are available to Marrakech, Ourika Valley, Agafay Desert, Tin Mal Mosque and the Ouirgane Valley. If you enjoy yoga or painting - this is the place for you!
