The Victorian style bathroom has a drench shower and extra body washing shower head.

The kitchen is Italian oak & granite with a range cooker and a good sized fridge freezer.

The thick river stone walls keep the cottage cool in summer whilst the central heating and log combined with double glazed windows keep it warm in winter. Moreover, the main room has three electric Velux windows which provide a breath of fresh air at the touch of a button.

To the front we have a cottage garden where you will find a bistro table & chairs where you can take morning sun with the soundtrack of the river in the background. To the rear we have a split level terrace with a BBQ and two seating areas (one with a 3M tilting parasol), and evening sun.

Glorious, historic cottage in fabulous village
Oh my, what a fabulous cottage this is! We feel humbled to have stayed in Pen-y-Bont for a glorious week in December. This classic Welsh cottage is lovingly restored, large, clean, and well furnished. The kitchen had everything we needed. The shower was warm and wonderful. The fireplace was cozy and took the last bit of chill out of the air. And the bed was super comfortable. Can't wait to come back in the summer! We loved being in Rowen and got to know several folks as we visited the Ty Gwyn pub (just a stone's throw from the cottage). Lots to do in the area, including castles, woolen mills, restaurants (great gluten-free fish and chips in both Conwy and Llanwrst), seaside, and so many fabulous hikes! You must hike up to the 13th century church! We have traveled to many locations all over the world, and our visit to Pen-y-Bont and Rowen will be cherished for a lifetime.

Wonderful week in this special place
Not sure if you could come up with a more wonderful location to have this two room house. The walk over the bridge that goes over the steam is as beautiful as it comes. All of the fixtures are very up to date. The beds were fantastic. If you want peaceful this is the place. We loved every minute of our stay.

Lovely cottage in great location
We've just got back from a great holiday in this lovely cottage. Perfect location for all main attractions. Our grandchildren loved it. We'd love to come again sometime and would happily recommend to friends and family.

Beautiful week away
We had a lovely time at Paul's cottage. The location was idyllic and our 2 year old loved splashing in the river at the bottom of the path! The pub was really friendly too, we managed to stop off after a walk for a pint in the sun. The details of the local walks were a great touch. We found there was so much to do within a short drive that its become our favourite UK staycation destination so far!

About the host

Hi, I'm Paul. When I bought the property, in 2007, it was a derelict Welsh cottage.

Why they chose this property

A haven of tranquility, situated so close to the river that you a can hear it as you lie in bed simply by opening a window. For a more mindful experience sit on the bench next to the river, just outside the gate - simply sit, close your eyes and listen.

What makes this property unique

Possibly the oldest property in the village; thick river stone walls keep it cool in summer whist the central heating and log burner makes it toasty warm in Winter.
