Beautifully converted cottage in lovely South Cotswold village

Dovenby cottage was featured on BBC1's escape to the country on May 17th, 2021. Sympathetically converted from an old stable block, Dovenby Cottage has been transformed into a romantic, cosy, rural retreat of the highest standard. With owners next door you have access to a wealth of local information should you need it, but will have privacy to hunker down in this charming period property, complete with open fire. Short & longer breaks are available, all starting and ending on either a Friday or Monday.

The highlight of our England trip
Dovenby cottage was the highlight of our trip around England. Justin was so warm, welcoming and helpful to us and the cottage really felt like a safe place for us to land. We immediately felt at home -- there was even tea, wine, milk, and cake waiting for us. I can't say enough good things. Thank you! And we will most definitely be back next time we are in the UK.

Fantastic
A beautiful cottage in a quiet little village. There were some lovely extras in the cottage when we arrived, cake, wine and milk. A very well equipped kitchen containing everything you could possibly need. A wonderful bathroom and bedroom. There was some books and dvds and lots of guides to the area. A folder containing all the information you could possibly need. From how to work all the appliances, where the shops are and where to eat. We had such a wonderful time . Thank you to our hosts. It was perfect.

This a family owned property with the family living next to the property. We are a married couple with a teenage son. We are both professionals and work during the week, but remain available should you need any local advice.

Why they chose this property

Built in 1900 as a stable block and tack room Dovenby Cottage has been used to house horses, donkeys, sheep, chickens, carts and even soldiers on leave from WWII.

In spring 2013 we lovingly converted it to a cottage of the highest quality, whilst keeping many of its period features.

We love this area of the South Cotswolds because whilst being a beautiful part of rural Wiltshire it has great accessibility to a wide range of amenities. We are surrounded by National Trust sites and properties such as Dyrham park, Laycock Abbey and Avebury, plus are very close to Bath and Bristol. One of our favourite things to do at the weekends is to walk to Castle Combe for lunch.

What makes this property unique

Dovenby Cottage is a lovely place to snuggle up on a cold day. It has underfloor heating throughout, but if you prefer this can be switched off and you can light a log fire. The cottage' garden has far-reaching views across fields.

Ideally located to venture in to Bath, yet escape the crowds for rural tranquility at the end of the day.
