Fairytale Property a 20 minute train ride to Edinburgh
We traveled with two kids under four, my spouse, and her parents. The apartment had tons of space and a nice patio as well. This cottage is literally built within the wall of the castle grounds. The very windows you look out to see the ocean and the sheep are built right into the wall. The walk around the property is fantastic. Beautiful rose gardens, herbs everywhere, and more apple trees than you can count. There are many walking trails just outside the castle walls as well. You will definitely need to rent a car if you stay here. The nearest bus stop is a 12 minute walk. So it’s doable, but not ideal if the weather is rainy. The towns around the area are really fun to explore and the restaurants in Aberlady are great. You’ll want to take the train to Edinburgh from Longniddry. It’s only an 8 minute drive to the station and a 20 minute train ride from there to the city center. You’ll love everything about this cottage, the location, and the magic of the grounds.

Why they chose this property

The property has been in the Hope family for over 300years.
The cottage is built in the medieval wall which surround the castle. To enter the cottage, you drive through the private grounds of the castle along the wall of the historic double walled fruitgarden (built between 1808 and 1812)
The fruitgarden was built by french prisoners of war during the Napoleonic wars and can be visited. It is a unic fruitgardens in Scotland.
The cottage was built for the gardeners of Luffness in the 18th century. It has been totally renovated in the spring of 2014 and is now a very attractive place to stay.

What makes this property unique

To visit the garden and the historic fruit garden, build between 1808 and 1812 is worth a visit.
The Nature Reserve opposite the road belongs to the Luffness a Estate and is a great attraction for bird watchers from all over Great Britain too, also the walk through the reserve through the dunes to the beach is a very great attraction.
There are many golf courses around Luffness, about 21 courses.
Luffness New Golfcourse was build by Henri Walter Hope with the help of Tom Morris, the famous golfer.
The Golfcourse is next door to the Estate.
