About this property

Detached Stone Cottage With Panoramic Views Of The River Tweed

The detached cottage is situated in the lovely hamlet of Wark, within the remains of Wark Castle (Order of the Garter), protected by English Heritage. The nearest shop and pub and public transportation is in Cornhill on Tweed. There is a Co-op, shops and pubs in Coldstream just 4 miles across the river where there is also an exceptional golf course in the grounds of the Hirsal, home of Lord Hume. The cottage, on the bank of the River Tweed, stands high above the river giving panoramic views into Scotland. Enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of the scenery while watching the salmon jump and the fisherman spending a lazy day fishing (or if you prefer to fish yourself, a trout fishing permit can be obtained at the Cornhill P.O. and salmon fishing can be arranged in advance through the local agent who represents the owners of the beats of the Tweed). Watch swans flying by at eye level, heron, ducks, pheasants and the numerous varieties of birds that share Wark.

Idyllic Getaway.
Small but perfectly formed - this tiny house is ideal for a peaceful, relaxing getaway for two. The house is spotlessly clean with an excellent use of space. Stunning river views from the window and many different types of wildlife outside the window create endless entertainment without the need for the TV. This is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area and only 15 miles from the coast. Friendly and informative neighbours and a very novel but comfy bed. We will definitely be back!.

Fantastic little cottage
Excellent service, location not the easiest to find, as town hall has been demolished and the next door's cottage name is overgrown so not easy to spot. The cottage itself it just perfect for our stay, lovely garden to sit and enjoy the evening. Would recommend and would stay again.

We are a mother and daughter one retired and one a Neighbourhood Services Lead for a Social Landlord. Daughter also owns a shoe shop in Berwick upon Tweed and is a bit of a workaholic! We are local to the area and felt that the cottage was in a superb location and just so pretty and tranquil.
Father (Dad) helps out and maintains the gardens, he is also retired.
Mother in 70's and daughter in 40's.
We enjoy holidaying ourselves in the UK and know it's important that a house has the little essentials and on top of it all is clean and tidy. Daughter has a dog and a 9 year old and knows it's difficult to get accommodation which is dog friendly hence allowing pets.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the view from the property, the peacefulness of the area and the design of this quirky little cottage.
The setting is just breathtaking and very calming.
It's not far from the main towns but far enough away to chill out!

What makes this property unique

Peace, quiet and lots of visiting birds
