About this property

Beautiful timber lodge, nestled in tranquil wildlife haven with mountain views.

Rowanburn Lodge is a beautiful cedar lodge overlooking the historic Duke's Pond. The lodge is located on the edge of Greystoke Forest, with views looking towards Blencathra and the Northern Fells of the Lake District National Park. The lodge has a large, gated, decking area with garden furniture, overlooking the pond and an extensive natural garden with alternative sitting areas so you can enjoy the sun or shade while you unwind. The garden is an oasis for watching wildlife as it is frequently visited by a wide variety of birds, red squirrels and roe deer. It's southerly / westerly facing orientation and canopy of trees provide the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday. The lodge itself provides excellent accommodation for up to six people. It is very well equipped and beautifully furnished, offering a large open plan kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave oven, dishwasher and washing machine. The dining and lounge area promote a wonderfully social holiday atmosphere with two sets of French doors that open onto the gated decked area to extend the living and dining space. There is a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a twin bedroom, a bunk bedroom and spacious family bathroom. The large shed to the rear of the lodge provides storage for bikes and other outdoor equipment. The lodge is all on one level, with easy access from the parking area right next to the lodge. All in all, Rowanburn Lodge offers a perfect setting for a relaxing break or an activity filled holiday. The centres of Penrith and Keswick are approximately a 20 / 25 minute drive from the lodge, through fabulous scenery, giving you access to all the facilities and attractions you may need for a wonderful holiday.

A perfect location to see in the New Year
We wanted to get away as a family to see in the New Year and this was the perfect place to that. The lodge was immaculately presented with everything that you needed to stay, there was even a surprise gift to see in the New Year which was completely unexpected but extremely welcomed. The living area had ample space for all of us to relax, unwind and enjoy ourselves without falling over one another and the bedrooms were spacious too. There is a shop at the next site which was a 5 to 10 minute walk away, so ideal for anything that you may have forgotten. The location is ideal for those of you wanting to get in some walking too. We all thoroughly enjoyed our break and would definitely book again.

A few restful days away
A few restful days away was exactly what we got. Location was tranquil, beautiful and just what was needed. The lodge was perfect, exceptionally equipped, beautifully considered throughout. Rain put paid to us enjoying the outside spaces but if we could have they would have been lovely. A wonderful place to stay for a very restful break. Thank you Anne for everything. X

Just Perfect
The lodge is amazing, well presented and spotlessly clean, our client loved the weekend break and found it so relaxing. The red squirrels running across the patio to feed and the wildlife an added bonus. The hosts were great, providing all the information we needed. Cant wait to visit again, it was literally Just Perfect. Mark T

After more than 30 years of teaching we retired at Christmas (2011) and invested in a little piece of rural tranquillity. We have always enjoyed holidays in the Lake District and this lodge overlooking Duke's Pond was perfect. We enjoy walking, cycling and watching the wildlife.

Why they chose this property

Dukes Pond is in a perfect location to access all that the Lake District offers, yet is in a really peaceful location. Dukes Pond is north of Greystoke on the edge of Greystoke Forest and about 15-20 minutes drive from the centres of Penrith and Keswick and all the facilities you would need for a perfect holiday.

What makes this property unique

The area is a haven for wildlife, and a wide variety of birds, red squirrels and roe deer can be watched from the lodge. The area is perfect for cycling and C2C routes pass close by. There are also lots of walks from the doorstop, including those through Greystoke Forest. Rowanburn is in a perfect 'get away from it' location, yet offers all the home from home comforts.
