A problem-free stay
It was a pleasure to be in this quaint, well-equipped little cottage, in the beautiful and happening village of Holmfirth. Everything was as pictured. The walk into town is quick and easy, albeit a little steep, and the walk up over the hills very splendid. All worked like clockwork... never even saw the owner! Thank you Sue for a hassle-free stay!

Family stay in Holmfirth
We had a great time in this lovely cottage. The cottage was well equipped, clean & spacious. It is a great location - just outside the village up a fairly steep hill but doesn’t take any more than 5 mins to get there. Beautiful views from the front & back of the property & very peaceful. A few lovely welcome gifts of wine, cake & jam. Thank you Sue. We would definitely return to this property.

Lovely house
The property was beautifully clean with a well equipped kitchen and spacious sitting area. It was within walking distance of the town down quite a steep hill but we are all over 60 and managed it quite easily. The owner was easy to contact and sent her son over when we couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi. It was all sorted and we had.no further trouble. We had a lovely holiday in this lovely house. Thank you Sue.

Shame about the rain!!!
Lovely cosy home. It was nice to be able to cook and chat with the open plan space. Lots of wood laid on for the wood burning stove. We missed out on walking and exploring the area due to the rain. However, we took the opportunity to try Salt Mill and managed to get in YSP.

About the host

Host profile image
We have lived in Holmfirth for over 20 years, and our family has grown up here. We all love it - for the great amenities on our doorstep, including the varied restaurants, entertainments and arts festivals.
The higgledy piggledy houses in Holmfirth village remind you of a Southern European hillside village. We also love to be able to walk out of our front door into wonderful and varied countryside.

Why they chose this property

We bought Eastholme because it is opposite our own home and it was in need of some TLC. We have spent 18 months totally refurbishing the cottage and making it into somewhere that we would want to stay in ourselves.
Having spent many a family holiday in self catering accommodation we have tried to use that experience to
ensure everything is just right.

What makes this property unique

The cottage retains some of its best original features, such as the stained glass window details and pine wood floors and this is complemented by modern and stylish fittings and furniture. The courtyard is a sun trap and the patio has superb views. The rest of the garden even includes a vegetable patch.
Holmfirth centre is a few minutes walk away and there is always something going on - we love to walk down to shop in the market, with its craft bakery, fresh fruit and veg and local butchers - then grab a coffee and relax at Longley's cafe and ice cream parlour.
There are pubs, bars and restaurants to suit every taste, and the famous Picturedrome has a unique repertoire of live bands. The surrounding countryside is spectacular - perfect for both walking and cycling.
