Martham
The cottage was very comfortable and easy to manage. The important teams were clean, but other areas were not so clean, the inside cupboards. There were a few dead insects around. The garden area was very pleasant. Although the kitchen was well equipped it was short of either an electric whisk or a manual one.

Pretty quirky cottage
Loved the quirkiness of the cottage and the history behind it- for us it was a perfect location as family live nearby. Only downside for us were the steps ( really high and steep) and the overall cleanliness let it down . The windows were dirty inside and out and there were cobwebs everywhere. Other than those issues enjoyed our stay .

Great place to stay
Lovely place to stay. Lots to do in the area. We had an issue with the hot water, the owners were great and were very quick to organise its repair.

Quirky Cottage
The Cottage was lovely and we enjoyed it immensely but there was a problem-I ,being elderly was not able to access the shower as there was no handrail or slip mat to assist getting into the bath which was a shame.otherwise all good .

About the host

Helen and I worked in Norfolk in the late 1980s, and always loved the people, the slightly slower and gentler way of life, and the beauty of the area. Career and other pressures took us away from the area, but in 2005 we began to consider purchasing a holiday home. We spent four years treating visits to Norfolk as a bit of a hobby to research the areas and properties. The opportunity to purchase this cottage came our way when it was going to auction in a rather run down state. We spent the first couple of years of ownership renovating the cottage thoroughly, including a new thatched roof and an oak floor. We regularly visit the cottage as a retreat from the pressures of life, and it has worked very well for us. We trust others will enjoy it just as much as we have done.

Why they chose this property

It is a beautiful location in the Broads area and close to the sea. There are great walks around the village, which is itself interesting, varied, picturesque, but large enough to have "life" and actiivty.

What makes this property unique

It is a quaint, traditional cottage with traditional beams, an ignlenook fireplace, and old-fashioned steep stairs. It was once part of a farmhouse dating from 1690, and still has a hand water pump in the garden which we suspect was the reason the farm was located on this site in the first place.

It is close enough to the village to walk to the shops, but on the edge nearest the Broads, where you can enjoy undisturbed walks.
