Spectacular location on the North Haven Island's North Shore. 'The Forge' is surrounded by open fields and has beautiful views over the water of the Camden Hills and the islands of the Penobscot Bay. The sunsets are breathtaking.

A gem of a location for those who love nature, beauty and the remoteness of island life. Going to the beach is a lovely walk through a meadow down the hill from The Forge.

The property is a 10 minute drive from the town of North Haven.

Peaceful and Relaxing
As promised, a rustic setting, that's quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Beautiful views and unforgettable sunsets overlooking Penobscot Bay and the mainland can take your breath away.

Beautiful but cold
Maine in early June is a bit of a gamble due to the weather. House was exactly as promised (we've stayed there before). But it isn't the warmest house in could weather. We enjoyed our stay.

Perfect breezy Maine getaway
We had a wonderful stay at The Forge! The little cottage was the perfect escape from the city in the summer and we are very grateful to Bouzha for having us and being very communicative. Our favorite aspect of the cabin was the east and west porches which were perfect for chasing the shade (or sun!). From foggy mornings to bluebird afternoons, we felt really close to nature with windows open the whole time except for the occasional downpour. The private beach is just a short hike and you have a view to the north unlike any other. And, when things got chilly, we cozied up by the fire. Since we were unable to take time off, we were grateful the wifi was strong enough to power us 9-5. Across the island, our cell service was spotty, but overall we felt totally connected even though we were in a rustic setting. Other notes about staying on North Haven that do not necessarily relate to this property but may be helpful when preparing to get there (just in case I'm not the only one who struggles with planning head): - Book your ferry trip as soon as you can! Since check-in to The Forge is at 2, the midday ferry out of Rockland is your best bet. On the other side of the trip, checkout at 10am so the second ferry out of North Haven was also good timing. We killed time reading on the beach in between (check out the various Nature preserves and also Mullen Head Park). If you do not book your ferry trip to the island, be sure to show up early to the ferry terminal in Rockland. People park their cars overnight in line so there's really no such thing as being there "too early." - Join the private North Haven Facebook group before you go to the island as it may take several days for you to be accepted by a moderator. People regularly post things from hours of operation to extra ferry tickets and it's a very reliable hub of information. - Hours and days of operation of farms, restaurants, and businesses are all over the place, especially coming out of the pandemic so do as much planning ahead as possible. - Kitchen gear is eclectic but mostly stocked and we were pleasantly surprised with the offerings on the Island's one grocery. We marketed in Rockland but wished we'd done more of our food shopping on island given all farmstands. - North Haven was our puppy's idea of paradise but the ticks are no joke so be prepared to do regular checks!

perfect summer getaway
Bouzha's place is definitely a gem. The view is spectacular. The house was just the right size for our family of 2 adults, an 11-month old and our dog. Beautiful morning light and gorgeous sunsets in the evening. The house was somewhat rustic but comfortable and equipped with just about everything we could need. We thoroughly enjoyed the beach. Our little one loved playing with the smooth stones and high tide made for perfect swimming conditions. As others have mentioned, ticks are increasingly an issue on the island, so be aware. Overall we had a great time and would love to come back!

Idyllic, quintessential Maine
What a gorgeous location and awesome cottage!! The descriptions and pictures of the property are accurate, yet the view is AMAZING — pictures do not do it justice. Host was highly accessible to answer questions be helpful. Truly a simple and tranquil experience.

Our son is the 5th generation of our family to spend summers on North Haven Island on the same property my great grandparents bought in 1917.

Why they chose this property

The Forge used to a be wing on the main house. My grandmother moved it in the 1960's to its present location. Far enough away for privacy and quiet, but close enough to join her family for dinner, she renovated the Forge to be her own private cottage on her 40 acre farm.

What makes this property unique

If you like to be surrounded by beauty, to see the sunrise in the morning and the sunset in the evening, and like a bit of remoteness, you will love The Forge. For adults it is a lovely retreat, for children, it is a safe place to run through fields and revel in the outdoors.
